Gulf Islands 2013

Hey Islander, I have that same boat as you. Wondering about your downrigger mounting brackets. Where did you get those? I'm using the portable Scotty mounts which work fine but I like the looks of yours better.

Also, your PM mailbox is full.

Islander has only asked about 5 times when the herring will show in yellow point it was only a matter of time before he got a smart butt reply. It's nature islander maybe the fish know when they will arrive but even they probably don't have a clue. Like you I hope somebody shares when they arrive in out area.

Sorry for the sarcasm Islander 55. I think being penned up in the office for too long increases my bitter cynicism. It'd be great if we knew when the fish were going to be places. It would also be great if we could predict the weather but no one has been too great at that lately either. I can only ever hope for the fish to be where I plan on going on a day with suitable weather. There is nothing worse than sitting in the office all week staring at the ocean while the sun shines and the wind, still, only to wake up Saturday morning to gale forced winds or torrential down pouring rain.

In other news, I was talking to a friend yesterday who'd been fishing Tent. Apparently there is bait everywhere. This did not result in great fishing though. They got one about 18 inches and another that was just legal. It's stomach was full of small (less than 4 inch) bait fish.

Crabbing was ok, they were catching lots of undersize (5 per trap) but only managed to pull in two keepers.
