14' vs 16' for Crabbing & Prawning Gulf Islands

We keep a 70s vintage14 ft Starcraft at the cabin, I use it occasionally when I don't want to tow my own boat from the interior for just a quickie visit. It's very crowded to have 2 pairs of traps and ropes in there, but workable at a pinch. I'd want the addition space of a 16 ft if I was buying a boat for this type of work.

I would go 16'. I don't have either one of those boats youbare looking at, but I do owna 16'. I fish solo often, and 16' is just right. You won't feel like you are in a huge boat. A 14' may just feel too small once you get loaded up.

if you can search more... try and find something with a wash down deck and scuppers.

Kellahan 18 or so filled with rain, listed, turtled and sank at the dock overnight Thur/Fri In Ukee. He pumped it before bed, but no auto pump. They did great work without heavy equipment to get it up, pumped out and on the trailer.
I had 5 inches in my trash can.
