When the customer steps on the boat & after the safety ordination... I ask the guest..do u want to learn how to fish or do u want to just relax and I do the work...95 percent want to learn...so off to the races we go and I become a working boat.....at the end of the day the boys & gals have now become better at the sport and if the they do have there rig under stand the rules of the road... I don't mind sharing info and have a fairly good network..but that network is a 2 way street.... there is a certain satisfaction those days where the guest walk away having learned something..even knock the odd one fish off the net.. :)

So they are learning all your bad habits, and they pay for this service :)

Haha!
Pretty much sums it up perfectly

Sent from my rotary phone using tapacrap!

It doesn't matter, where, what or how...there is so much more to it. The funnest part about fishing is trolling in the pack and killin' it - everyone is watching and everyone else is using all the same stuff. :) What's the difference? :)

Come on guys - who cares...The best example of an unbelievable, caring, sharing individual, who wishes nothing but success for the next angler whether out in his own boat or someone elses for the day is a local Nanaimo angler - "Hot Rods" aka: Clyde Wicks. If you don't learn how to network, don't expect to catch fish or gain real intel. Where you gain is in what you give, not what you take.

You get what you give...simple. :)

Kind regards
Robert.

IMO It's not just that simple..
for a "newby" or a total stranger to ask and expect specific way point's/pinacles/bays/points and details it might seem that simple..
I'm not suggesting you are a newby.
there are many many eyes on the internet..

For one who's put in yrs and yrs fishing an area only to post up on the internet or give up their "honey" holes at the dock willy nilly(again imo) is a fool

Trolling in a pack..targeting a certain run of fish is totally different story...

If you know what I'm talking about I'm thinking most all would agree.

But if you don't ..be my guest and post those way points. .love to give "your best " specific details a go.. ;)

LOL :) - Point in case^^^...anyone can write something on the internet and it is interpreted 100 ways to Sunday. :)

Specific spots don't matter to me, generalization does. :) I learned by the age of 16, what to look for on a chart - what will quite possibly offer up some bounty.

God Bless,
R.

Doh head me! Lol
General info is great..dont think there isn't anything out there that hasn't been said in regards to "how to's"..there are many specific "where to's" still to be had...depending on what your after and when, this could and does change on any given tide..
I find it very rewarding taking a chart to a new area and doing exactly what you said..looking it over and planning..although new areas to me are getting smaller and smaller over here on the island ;)

Lets all go out there and find some "specific" spots of our own and you will get way more gratification in doing so..
Maybe even have some bragging rights back at the dock to boot! :D

Most of my best days now are finding the fish AWAY from the pack..so much more relaxing:cool:

I like your thinking .

Its called fishing not catching. The hunt is half the fun for me.
In saying that Ive only been on the Island for a couple years and appreciate all the info that ive picked up from this forum. I try to give info as much as i take it too but would never expect exact lats and longs. Ive definitely been helped along the way from some members more knowledgeable than myself via PM. I guess its what youre asking and how you ask or if they see you are a contributor or just stealing secrets.

Nothing beats time on the water i find. Get out there and fish fish fish!

I find the bite moves about over any given area that I am usually a little vague on giving an exact location ie I will say limekiln bay are to marshall rather from the outcrop in limekiln to the first reef at marshall. I don't want to send someone off to where the bite was yesterday and not two days from now. Pulling the boat from the water is a different story if someone is just going out, I will tell them as close as possible where we had bites and where was cold.I have no problem telling what I was using and what depth I fished and times. Most of the best fisherman put in the time on the water and learn habitual habits which seem to hold true. I know when certain runs will pass through my area, not to the day but usually within a few weeks and you adjust to that and you know that certain tackle worked for them in the past and you go to that first.
