Lot more relaxing to anchor up in the outlet to the river at Savona and pick up those nooks there. That lake is a big place and they spread out like crazy. Good job finding some!Interior run freshwater chinook got a couple finally after striking out 3 years in a row! Would have been better except for the 3 gill netters working kamloops lake
thanks wally, yeah we worked for them landed 3 total lost another 16 at the boat just before the net. 16 and the big guy was a 22lb at 41" long prob well over 30 in the salt for sure. Caught a jack as well 52cm but tossed him back.Lot more relaxing to anchor up in the outlet to the river at Savona and pick up those nooks there. Not trying to be a dick, what do you do with those smoke them ?Interior run freshwater chinook got a couple finally after striking out 3 years in a row! Would have been better except for the 3 gill netters working kamloops lake
no prob scott, smoke or bbq the meat is beautiful and loaded with fat almost to the point where you could just eat it like sashimi! Not trying to be a dick, what do you do with those smoke them ?
nope def nice and firm, they are just darkening a little because of the change from salt to fresh and the journey to the rivers to spawn obviously but when we get to them usually they are still in good eating shape for sure. in 2018 we got 6 in total in 2 days and all them were just as firm as these ones were. They eat well.Ok, thought it would turn soft
yep for sure - I mean we can all show our fish pics and those memories are priceless, ie:Might be an age thing but starting to realize that these parts of the trip are as memorable as the ones with the catch. Some awesome memories as evident by the pics submitted to. Thanks for sharing!

We see this question quite often, coastal folks are surprised to hear how good the interior fish are despite being so far from tidewater. In 2020 I took my buddy out for Osoyoos sockeye because he couldn't go to his guiding job in Haida Gwaii. Despite being teeny 3-4 lb fish, he loved it because (a) fish still bright with firm red meat, and (b) first time in years that he had fished for salmon wearing shorts and flip flops. Not trying to be a dick, what do you do with those smoke them ?
Be still my heart...Does winter salmon season count? Howe Sound.
