out off Ballenas lastnight for the first time... fished from about 638-830, what an amazing evening out there! at 730pm, managed to hook up with a 22 pounder. got it right off the northwest tip of the island at 104 ft on the rigger. Used the old red flasher w/ pink stripe... army truck hootchie!

Hey Kelly, gotta pull the boat and put the kicker back on. Luckily it was just the carb and didn't cost a fortune. I can't go Sun. but maybe Mon., I'll let you know. BRS
 
Hit up gerald today on the am bite. Hit 3 between 7:50-8:30. Nothing big a 8lb spring,6 lb coho(first this side of the island) and lost a spring significantly bigger. The bigger spring hit when my riggers were bouncing bottom, that fish was a *******. Everytime i tried to set the hook it swam towards me at mach 10. Few other hits and bumps but nothing major. 168ft splatterback hootch. About 10+ boats didnt see any nets out but charlie got a nice 25lber at french creek 150ft. Greg im fishing tomorrow and monday AM most likely so shoot an email if you wanna head out. Saw charlie and honked at him but he ripped by.
 
Skunked this morning. Sloppy conditions and no action. Whales were in the area the day before though which may have affected it and the dolphins had a baitball on the surface on the back of gerald. Got a good vid ill post if i have time.
 
Hey Guys, anybody know how to shrink these posts to fit on my laptop, or is that not possible? Why are some posts so wide?
 
Another sloppy morning fished 4 hours around the bite at gerald and all we had to show for it was a 6 lber that we released. Going to do some exploring this week to find some fish. Qualicums,sangster, lasqueti ect. Does anyone have a french creek report? Greg if your free give me a shout and we can split gas.

Ps another member pointed out that the ballenas station is not showing proper wind speeds. Its showing 5 when its really 15+ and 10 when its 20+ so be aware if planning a trip around that.
 
Kelly, I'm heading out there on Friday for the weekend. Planning on launching at Bamfield. Is that where you launch or do you run out from Port Alberni? I'll be in a 19' blue sangstercraft (open runabout)
 
I got my bamfield trip cancelled pretty choked [B)] Best to launch at port alberni by far.Its a nice run and calm if before noon. The road out there sucks and will kill the boat/trailer.

Now im stuck scratching it out here. I just missed the bite but fished 12-3 for another skunk. Lost one small fish at gerald 175ft on splatterback. Guessing it at 6-8 lbs. May try sangster again as i just dont think there are many fish around here.
 
Hey Kelly, it could be worse..... you could still be in Alberta.... I have my kicker back I'm gonna try to put it on tomorrow and get back in the game. BRS
