DFO Research Validates Anglers’ Position on Chinook Non-Retention

The Cons have some candidates and MPs that have shown support for the BC public fishery but who knows how far they can influence Poilievre and his cabinet if he wins? We can only hope they can! Unfortunately, based upon what has been said to date the BC public fishery is not an important election issue as they have not expressed any specific plans or programs yet.

IMO a vote for the Cons is the only hope to improve things for the BC public fishery. However, we will need to continue work hard to make sure this is an important issue before and especially after the election! My 2 bits.

There are many among the Conservative Candidates who support BC fisheries.
When Ken Pearce (R.I.P.) and I met with the Standing Committee for Fisheries and Oceans we were rather happy to meet with several of them afterwards.
To a man, they did indeed note firm support both for our cause (Pinnipeds) and Fishing in general out here.

Foremost among them was Mel Arnold: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mel_Arnold

Mel acts along with Clifford Small representing the Shadow Cabinet appointees for Fisheries & Oceans.
Both are cut from the same cloth and can be considered our Allies IMO.
Rumor also has it that Mel is likely to take the Fisheries Minister role when the Conservatives win.

The outlook appears promising.

Now go VOTE!!

Cheers,
Matt

I was recently at a community event hosted by our North Island Conservative candidate Aaron Gunn. He also had an Alberta Conservative MP in attendance with him at the event. (Can’t remember the other guys name now). Both Mr Gunn and his guest were extremely clear that they both fully support recreational fishing and hunting and will do their utmost to ensure that we continue to have the best opportunities to do so. It was very refreshing to hear this spoken about openly.

The complaints about DFO’s policy decisions that tend to go against us shouldn’t be directed at the local level in the vast majority of cases. The overwhelming majority of these decisions roll downhill from bureaucrats in Ottawa who get their directions from the politicians who are trying to appease the many NGO’s who are trying their hardest to shut everything down. Strictly trolling for votes…..
Blaine Calkins. Was also there and run Aaron’s campaign north of sayward. The party is big on ensuring access including opening up more Chinook retention areas and doing it based on science and data, not one user groups requests.

The liberals want to turn BC into a park. Regardless of IF the conservatives make any drastic changes, my gut tells me that they won't be fast tracking the MPA nonsense. Clearly our government has not worked for the last decade with the libs, so switching sides is the best hope we have. Imo.
They will be getting rid of mpas.

We recognize that fish are renewable resources that can be rebuilt and sustained through a proper investment in science and management. We believe in investing significantly in our scientific knowledge base and in making firm and fair decisions based on facts, with a regulatory and enforcement regime that has the ability to carry out the necessary function
This SCREAMS they will work with the FF's rather than the public.

They had scientific studies remember, salmon reduction had nothing to do with FFs, it was global warming.
The never had any of the deadly viruses, according to their reports.
They just buried any evidence of anything else using the 3 member board that decided what was to given MPs.

This statement says they are going to work to sustain FF through management now, but please ignore the other 40 years of hard evidence.
Just how much have the FFs given for campaigns? How much "freebees" or supporting outside agencies to promote this idiot?

This guy won't even submit to a security check so he can't sit on the privy council and can't learn anything discussed in those meetings, it is treason to divulge that info.
