Cuts of meat on sale

Be curious how these aussie roasts turn out if anyone has tried one

There's alot of austrailian beef avaiable for really good prices. I bought some months ago at famous foods. It's all grass fed. It's good. It's no Alberta beef tripple A grain finished but guess it depends on what you like better. On cuts like a prime rib, I'll take the tripple grain finished fat ******* please.

I went to the CR Thriftys today.
I got a selection of smaller PR roasts and steaks.
The big ones just did not look great.
The good part was paying for it in Scene points.
We must have been there very close to the same time. Scene points helped out too.

I had the butcher cut up a couple prime rib loins for me so I could check out the marbling then had him cut a bunch of thick rib eyes. Also got a few bone in thick cut rib steaks too, a 3 bone roast, their delicious double smoked bacon, and some grainy mustard sausages that I love.

Gonna cook the roast with wood in my new Dome pizza oven. 🤩20251218_221422.jpg

Got my Australia rib roasts today. $10.88 a pound. I wouldn't call them prime but they were boneless. 3 kgs each $70 each. 8 steaks and one big roast for $140.
As the girls used to say "that's a lot of meat".

Thrifty Edgemont has the 30% off i snagged a pair of 3 bone prime ribs this morning. They also have parallel 49 beans 9 bucks off down to 13.99 a bag too.

And plenty of lulu'd up soccer moms but I digress...
We shop at the same Thrifty's

I learned that that particular Thrifty's often shorted the amount of Prime Ribs they would have out for sale

A few times I went in after work and they would tell me that everything was sold out and no rain checks were given.

I later earned that they have to give rain checks .

The Customer service desk always issued me the rain checks I wanted -they were the folks who tipped me off on the rain checks.

I will head over and get a rain check on the last day of the sale for a few roasts (when they are "all out" )and buy them after Christmas ,

Co Op in Central Saanich has AA prime rid fr 12.99 a pound. Picked up some this morning and they had a real good selection.

I bought a few roasts at SS this week, they looked decent enough to me. I stock up quite a few while they are on sale, and we had one from last year this evening likely also from SS.
We cook our roasts sous vide for about 10 hours @ 131 and finish in the oven. While the crust is not the same as what would be produced from a barbeque, I feel the temperature control of the interior more than makes up for it.
Our roast tonight was fabulous and I will definately continue buying AA roasts from SS and other venues depending on appearance.
