Butterfly Squid Devil.....

No...I haven't used them lately.....but I'm thinking of using them for Coho soon......

they do better when trolled fast......no flasher.....long drop-back....

Been reading reports recently where fast-trolled stuff has worked for Chinook......

Interesting..Where did you get those. I generally go +3-3.5 knots for coho so these would be interesting to try at higher speeds... I assume you just buy heads put whatever hootchie in??

yah right I hope your kidding lolol Just like kripple k's so ****** .... everything built on the 80's..Just like all the companies that stole hot spots patent design when they didn't renew it....Hence why we have so many flasher companies. Its actually brutal how many guys keep copying the same idea over and over.

Its like those coho killers copied from the 70's. There nothing new.

Wrong on all counts......

You can buy them right now.......PNT has them and has carried them for ages.....

Early ones were made by Scotty and Radiant....

These were popular with the commies.......

People still use them........

Spring Velocity........yes you just buy the heads (and hardware) and cut the hoochy to fit........

Ones in the pic were made by Scotty......better design than a couple of the other imitations out there......I took the Cyclops eye off the green ones and left the eyes on the hoochy.

They do work allright.......trolled faster........30lb test max.....

I just haven't used them for awhile and wondered if anybody else had........

we used to use them allot when commie trolling.
we would use them for late fall coho....usually with a darkblue and silver , or something with some sparkle.
we would use longer leaders thinned out in the fall and always had a flasher just below/under the butterfly as we called them.
leader would be about 7 fathom long and keep as light as possible with small hook and no swivel in a loop knot so it hangs back a bit, and take out every second strand of hootchie tail.
THEY KILL BIG COHO ! and were not a fad/gizmo... they made us money $$$$$
you know when you have it working right if it is fluttering and vibrating , and will dart around changing directions.
have fun with them, on rod and reel they are perfect.

C/Hook...thanks for the intel...

What size hook did you use and was it a Siwash?

Also.........I've run them on 30lb test before ...but would 25lb test be a better choice?

I've never rigged them like you describe.......but it sounds very good so I'll change mine to what you said......

Thanks........

X2. We did the very same thing and I still use them starting this time of year.

I use these squid devils regularly for both Chinook and coho. I use these with the flasher off the DR ball. Its a blast to catch fish without the drag of a flasher. Our group was very successful this year at Nootka using these modified so that they could be placed on a needlefish hoochie.
