Department of Fisheries Officers

For Mother’s Day, I took my mother in law out fishing last week. After a DFO stop and a license check, he wrote me a ticket “FISHING WITH BARB”
As he was climbing out of the boat, I tried talking sense into him by saying, “she goes by Barbara!”
He said “what’s done is done”.
I told her if she wants to go fishing with me again she will have to legally change her name.

Same officer in both cases!!!! Knew it!!! Some people shouldn’t be officers and abuse it. This person is a perfect example. Most are AWESOME. Our local officers are really great. The guy who abuses his position is a travelling one and isn’t local to where my buddy is/was.
Yes, this same guy is on a mission to misuse his power. I am disgusted by what I witnessed in court. And I am shocked that the judge hasn’t dismissed the case yet.
Will let you know what happens.

Bar Bar Bar Bar Barbra Ann…..take my hand……

This DFO claimed a lady was fishing with, and caught a chinook salmon, on a barbed hook. His evidence was a couple of photographs that he took while inspecting the boat, of barbed hooks on lures that were in a tackle box. She was not even present when he took the pictures.

The Judge on the case is reserving judgement for a couple months. I would be shocked if she was found guilty.

Doh!! Be like if I had booze in my car and bottle hasn't ever been opened leading to a cop thinking I'm drinking and driving smh

Every single sportfishing boat on this coast has barbed hooks somewhere in possession

Anyone who had the misfortune of dealing with the cast & crew of the MV Comox Post (early 90's) in Bamfield could attest to what abuse of power and total ineptatude is all about.

i had a young DFO officer inspect my catch and then try and fine me at the dock for snagging a coho while jigging in CR . ( i had indeed foul hooked it; assist hook got him on top of head leaving a small mark)
i told him it’s ok to retain fouls hooked salmon the salt. he said “ nope it’s not.” i pulled up their website and showed him. he went and double checked with his partner who confirmed i was indeed correct. he apologized and i sed no problem. it’s a learning lesson for him and you move on.
