Its a super clean boat for the money. It is a 25 year old hull/engine, but definitely shows pride of ownership and checks out as 'garage kept'. That motor is super clean, but it is still a quarter century old carb motor. Its a great deal unless you end up needing to re-power in a year or two.finally a well priced boat. the numbers being thrown up here are insane to me:
You have to be so careful dealing with ethanol gas on these old carb motors - burn them fully out of gas after every use, plus manually drain the carb bowl, etc.
My FIL has an old Carb Mercury 4-stroke 75hp and literally every single season I have to tow him or escort him back to the dock due to a gummed up motor that has stalled out or will barely run. He's reasonably mechanically inclined, but just can't get his head around the maintenance/upkeep required for dealing with it. A can of Seafoam at the end of the season just doesn't cut it.
I really like that this is not a bowrider - so much safer. Located in PoCo - so I suspect lots of time up in Pitt Lake - way safer when the wind comes up in the afternoon or if you get stuck in some rough weather. The only problem is that it will only seat 4 (maybe 6 in a pinch with people sitting beside the engine), so lots of people will go for the bowrider just to load it up with friends/kids.
