Give me a two-stroke with, half the hp, a tiller, pull start, on a riveted aluminum with ideally no passengers over 200lbs and we can send it! I think recent discussions of heavy batteries in boats is food for thought. A guy just caught a nice tyee in Bamfield in a tin boat with manual downriggers. My honest power length to horsie formula:
17’ min 90 and 115 ideally
18.5’ min 115 and 150 ideally
20-21’ min 175 and 200 ideally
23’ 225 min and 250 ideally or twin 150’s
25-26’ min 300 and ideally 350 or twin 200’s.
Edit: adding a pod with flotation adds one power level higher than “ideal.” There are always minor exceptions ie a heavy Grady could use one more than shown and a light tinny could be great with “min”
Print this up and put it on your refrigerator!
