Boats on Used Victoria and Other Areas

I don't follow financing rates for boats, but with the BOC increases (another 0.75% coming July 13) I'd expect new boats 4-6% and used boats 8%+. If not now, very soon.

yeah only asked because a coworker bought a used care from a dealer they offered him 8% so he put it on a line of credit instead.

I think 8% will look generous by EOY. This is where the boat market falls apart - new sales are driven by debt / never never plans. If the new boat market softens, it takes out the used boat market, which I suspect is driven by HELOC's. Should be an interesting 12-18 months, I bet all of the Covid gains in used boat prices are given back.

Yup lots of 90s trophy for sale cheap soon

Someone was asking recently "when are we going to see all the good deals on boats"...there will be a segment of the market who had to dump the toys fast. Then there will be "better deals" to be had but beware the deferred maintenance that fuels these amazing bargains. I have been speaking to a variety of marine service providers lately and 3 out of 4 say it is not nearly as busy as in years recently passed. Who knows, it may be a blip or our late start to Summer...anyway get out there and hit the water!

but I may be wrong

I’ve been thinking the same thing and been wrong for the last 5 years but it legitimately looks like it’s comming. Friend was selling their house and sold it weeks ago the buyer found a way out 100s more houses have come onto the market at lower prices.

talking to co workers many are on viable rate mortgages and there being hit with increases.

100s more a month is going to start to hit people like that.

I can’t see the prices sustaining but I’ve been wrong lots things like boats and houses just seem to increase.

You hit the nail on the head there. With great deals comes a whole lot of garbage to wade through. I've been predicting a glut of toys coming to the market since late 2020 and so far I've been wrong. I still believe it will happen but there will likely be a lot of buyer beware too.

Another sparkling fresh water example.

looks in nice shape........and only an 8 hour drive from the interior.......

Can you troll with those 2 stroke 115's? Reasonable size motors, these often have huge 2 strokes on them.
If you like the taste of oil burning in the morning. Start-up in the marina was always a little embarrassing for all the owners of Merc 2 strokes I know, and only 50% have lasted that friends and family have bought. Beautiful hull but it's the repower that will kill ya.

Assuming one would want to or have to repower.

I'm 3 for 3 in telling my friends buying 2000 ish merc 2 strokes they would likely repower. 2 went kaboom and 1 needed a very expensive trim assembly replaced $4,368.25 was the quote including taxes, so he got rid of his twins before he had to do the other one as well. My dad's early 90's 2 stroke merc is running strong and my brother's 2 stroke merc never skipped a beat. Two old motors if I was a betting man.....

Real men like Black Max don't just like the smell, they put two stroke oil in their coffee after they put on a Canadian tuxedo. :)
All my best memories of fishing as a kid have two stroke smells.
