Boats on Used Victoria and Other Areas

Anyone have thoughts on the new v8 mercury design on the 300’s. Any guides or whale watching boats able to do 1000+ hours on the new ones, difficult with Covid.

@BCI has actual experience comparing the older I6 350s to the new V8 300s. I seem to recall he reported that the V8s improved mileage and had similar performance overall, despite being down by 50hp per motor

There are plenty of threads on THT reporting similar results. Especially on heavy boats like a Whaler Conquest or similar the V8 performs similarly to the I6 350 but with better fuel burn and maybe just a couple of knots off on the top end

2 navigation and fish finder units

-grand new 9” Garmin touch screen
Rear steering (hydraulics still need hooked up)
-new glass in canvas -crystal clear
-wiring re done (everything works as it should) new batteries.

This is a great boat in good shape for the year. Handles all water conditions well and catches tons of fish. The 300 on this boat is very well powered.

If the add is up the boat is still for sale. Low ballers and stupid questions will be ignored.

My shed neighbor has a pair of v8 300s on a 315 conquest. Silent AF, sport mode sounds cool. We did a rip from mcm to egmont, fished all day and ripped back to mcm at 28 knots burning around 60 gallons. Super impressed see how these last over time and if they bring out a 350hp v8...these are 300hp at the prop shaft too.

Hope you caught some fish at that price per pound! :p

FYI all outboards are rated at prop-shaft horsepower

Just was looking at my notes.

The 300hp V8 was almost as fuel efficient as the 350hp L6.

Both the 300hp V8 and the 350hp L6 were way way more efficient than the 300hp L6.

I recall with 300hp L6 1.0-1.1mpg, with 300hp V8, 1.25-1.4mpg, and with 350hp L6 1.35-1.5 mpg at best cruise. Something like that. The seawater cooled supercharger in the 350hp L6 really worked well for efficiency. But I would expect the V8 300hp to almost match the mpg and not have a supercharger to service or worry about long-term.

Thanks that some pretty impressive gains for the V8! Thanks for the share. Here is how they perform on a monster. I bet my Buddy is pushing 10-12,000 pounds so should perform a little better than this.

Good boat for lakes and calm days, 10k of accessories. If you like to fish off shore or snotty weather wait for a Searunner or OceanPro
2016 Hewescraft 180 sportsman
$49,900
Sold!!
This market is crazy….

$50k for a 5 YO Sportsman! Wow!
I was just chatting with a friend a couple days ago about his boat. In 2018, he bought a 2015 Searunner with trailer (disc brake), Yamaha 150 hp and kicker, downriggers and a bunch of fishing gear for $40k. The boat was fresh water used and only had 200 hrs on the main. At that time we weren’t sure if he was getting a good deal!

But this just gives a perspective on how things have changed after Covid.
