Boats on Used Victoria and Other Areas

I have been in the newer model since they changed it in 2005 I know the freeboard is a lot higher but I still felt like it wasn't as high as the 185 I could be wrong maybe it's the small windows they use on the 542. Regardless both good options and very popular boats.
I don't know why they use such a small window.. that's one of my pet peeves with that boat.

The right boat is your Commander with a pod and twin outboards. The grass is NOT always greener on the other side. Just sayin'
Not everybody is the same but for me, if you love the boat, I thinks it’s better to sink money in it to bring it where you want it to be, then buying another bunch of unknown.
I agree but when the price tag gets to upwards of $180-$200 at that point the market sure does open up for other, newer, options. And the reality is I don't want something that's 15000 pounds with outboards. The fuel burn would really start to **** me off. Something 26-28 feet with a 10 foot beam would still be plenty
What’s everyone’s thoughts on this boat? Been for sale for a month I think. I’m not sure who services Honda’s on the mainland. I’m not a fan of Honda outboard but might go take a peek at this one
Honda service sucks all over BC

deal of the day 17' kc with yammy 4 stroke possibly under powered lol with riggers for 8k
Yeah I saw this one and thought of it. I'm still back and forth if I want to go from 15' to 17' or up to the 18.5 DE or possibly Explorer since all we do is day trips and its usually 20 minutes to an island or float around and just catch the sun. I'm sure later my kids may want to go fishing but at this point to short of an attention span at 3 years ;)

I also beach my boat regularly usually sand but it can be a mix of sand/small rock, let the kids off then set my anchor and go to shore.

I think ill make a different post on the board on this and get some input.

Hey. I am selling an 18' Hourston Glascraft

The boat is in great condition. Lighting inside and out was recently updated to LED.

Comes with:
Lowrance gps/depth sounder.
CD stereo with aux input.
Marine vhf radio.
350 V8 engine 4 barrel carb with OMC Stern Drive.
Trim tabs.
Many extra omc parts.
Tonneau cover
Camper cover
Full boat cover

This boat is amazing in the ocean.
It spent most of its time at Sproat Lake as a lake boat.

For its age, it has very low hours. The engine was replaced in 1986, and since then has approximately 500 hours.

What would you think this would sell for?
The albatross is that OMG! outdrive though. Really a tough sell.

How are these explorer's vs a double eagle 18.5?

I have seen more of the exploeres than DE it seems. Both have cuddies, is the explorer just lighter and different hull? Seems like DE is the #1 for this size.
The 542 is an awesome boat, hand laid fibreglass, 7’6” beam, high gunnel height for kids and the cuddy has been slept in out fishing. My 228 Seafarer is only 6 inches wider but the gunnels are 4 inches lower than the 2000 542 that I owned for 10 years.

I own the same Honda engine set from the same year 1018 hours. A guy just junked his when repowering but he was at about 2500 hours and ran it on a 25 foot boat so likely ran hard. Only thing to go wrong for us was the 02 sensor and we never lost power just some surging, expensive locally but under $100 for a non-oem off eBay. Engine maintenance seems easy from our experienced 30 year+ mechanic. Seems like a good deal considering what a new one outfitted like that would cost or some of the hearty priced used ones. If you decided to go for new power you would get a good price for those, I’d be tempted to give you 10k for them with rigging but I’d need to find a Beaty boat like that or mine to rig them too! I’m obviously biased after off shore trips and multi day cruising trips. Looking back at that silver when the sun is setting and you are bring back a few thousand in seafood is priceless, enough to make you think you were saving money catching your own fish!

Same thing sold earlier this week for 12.5k ;). another $5k on this one
Really? I have a hard time believing another one sold with even close to those hours on the main for 12.5k, even pre COVID that would be a good deal. Now pretty much unthinkable that a 176 DE with 70 hours could be that cheap.

Exactly,be careful when comparing boats.Same year boats that have been kept under cover or left in the chuck year round with little or no maintenance don't look the same after 20 or 30 years.I often see boats advertised that look good until you read the whole ad.Soft floor, aluminum cladding on transom ,freshly rebuilt 15 years ago,new ,not really, rebuilt engine from previous backyard mechanic owner,OMC outdrive, home built trailer, low hardtop,etc.etc..

1600 hours on the other one for 12.5k vs 70 would account for that 5k difference.

I didn't see the hours when I first looked at the listing.

Totally agree though that person didn't post any photos so it's hard to tell too. I just called. Someone's liking at the boat so it might be sold.

I think I might just wait until winter when boat buying freenzie is died out haha

Yeah, I don’t know though, you might be surprised how little prices change, I feel as though people won’t be willing to take too big of a loss on their recent purchases. What I mean is, if someone who doesn’t know all that much about boating has boat a boat during COVID, they are going to think that they can sell it for something similar. Just a thought.

That is true but the government said inflation is only going to be 2%.... Haha

I do wonder this as well. The lake boat I bought last year was 5k over the year before and now I'm sure I could sell it for 5k more. Will it really go down 10k I doubt it.

I see the cost of lots of things increasing.

That DE sold to the first couple that came. Sounded like a older couple so likely well taken care of.

Has this sold yet?

Seems too good to be true in this market. Boat doesn’t look well maintained. No info on the outboards and just one crappy pic of the side of the outboards?
That Searunner is 13 year old boat that looks pretty good to me, posting person has a consistent profile on facebook. She is just out of touch with boat prices. I'd send her a $500 deposit today if there wasn't a lineup of people in front of me from last night, I bet and no way for me to sneak through the Hourigan blockades!

Such a wicked boat, bench seats turn into a bed and also store the porta potty. Someone is going to have an amazing new ride.
