Boats on Used Victoria and Other Areas

finally a well priced boat. the numbers being thrown up here are insane to me:
Its a super clean boat for the money. It is a 25 year old hull/engine, but definitely shows pride of ownership and checks out as 'garage kept'. That motor is super clean, but it is still a quarter century old carb motor. Its a great deal unless you end up needing to re-power in a year or two.

You have to be so careful dealing with ethanol gas on these old carb motors - burn them fully out of gas after every use, plus manually drain the carb bowl, etc.

My FIL has an old Carb Mercury 4-stroke 75hp and literally every single season I have to tow him or escort him back to the dock due to a gummed up motor that has stalled out or will barely run. He's reasonably mechanically inclined, but just can't get his head around the maintenance/upkeep required for dealing with it. A can of Seafoam at the end of the season just doesn't cut it.

I really like that this is not a bowrider - so much safer. Located in PoCo - so I suspect lots of time up in Pitt Lake - way safer when the wind comes up in the afternoon or if you get stuck in some rough weather. The only problem is that it will only seat 4 (maybe 6 in a pinch with people sitting beside the engine), so lots of people will go for the bowrider just to load it up with friends/kids.

Exactly, a friend bought a boat with an old 100hp yami and it wasn't cheap.

If you aren't getting a 2 stroke on a nice hull for under 10k, I think there are better deals out there.

oh i’m not looking to buy. i just generally find the price of boats on here absolute insanity. who can afford a $300 k boat ? i guess the HELOC helps but even so hard to justify for something that most likely gets used four months tops out of the year. i just thought it refreshing to see a nice clean little package for $15 k on here

For sure, more affordable boats and that are kept under cover, a cream puff look of a nice double eagle is almost irresistible. Very few boats for sale under 20k and either the hull or engine is going to be suspect :( https://nanaimo.craigslist.org/boa/d/duncan-1987-hourston-glass-craft/7853687386.html

I'm currently looking for a boat on the lower Island. The couple I have looked at in the 17-21 ft range with outboards all seemed very overpriced for the age and condition (as stated above that most $sub 20k boats likey to have a engine or hull issue).

Had a 16' K&C before and everytime i was in it, wished it were bigger. Have an old aluninum 16' fisher "mostlt lake use" now and it will work for salmon in the crofton area. ALthough boats like that 166 double eagle are tempting, I think I'd regret another 16'
