Bamfield reports/ Winter 10/11

Thanks FD - you wouldn't want to catch too many in that boat...the Striper is much more comfortable I am sure.

Thanks for the report FD. Fishing in the ice breaker eh. Looks like the weather was nice and you got rewarded for your efforts. This gets the blood pumping for sure.

Finally a decent day so slipped out of the harbour with ol' McKneel for a couple hours fishing.

Fished up to the Whistle Buoy with little bait showing and no action, made a couple of passes and didn't touch anything. We decided to troll back towards Bamfield with the swell since it was to snotty to stay out there without good reason.

Got halfway back and hit a fish, gottem and bonked him - about nine lbs. Other rod goes off before we can get the first back down. This time its about a four lbr, no blood so let him swim.

Still marking no bait, but that seemed to hold fish, so wheeled around. Next 6 passes yielded a fish or at least a hit.

We bonked another about 12, lost another decent and let go of a couple more.

Great day out there, can't wait for the derby!!!

See some of you tonight!

Got a call from my Dad. He's up at the cabin for a few days. He said he's had his best day fishing in a long time - 4 #19'rs in short time. All deep (200+). Forgot to ask on what - he usually uses coyotes though. Near Broken Group.
Good early season report
