Congratulations!Search complete. I bought a Skagit Orca 24, the one that was suggested on the first page. Thanks all.
Now I have to learn to run and fish it. I'll be pouring over some of the well-worn threads here on SFBC.

There are friction adjustments on the Yamaha binnacles. I haven’t seen the boat but I’m assuming it’s a 704 dual binnacle, quick google search will show you how to adjust the friction.Yeah, it is the one with the newer 150s. I've put a few hours on them this week but still under 135. Warranty for another 16 months.
I've taken it out to Defense Islands twice, good learning curve but it feels like a solid boat to learn on.
The sun/rain shade over the dancefloor is a great idea. Need to give it some thought though-- it has a radar tower with 6 rocketlaunchers that I find really useful and I don't want to build something that makes those useless.
Not sure if it is a typical Skagit thing but there is not a third battery for house. There is lots of storage so I might do some research and add one.
So far the only things I don't love are the brakes on the trailer (I need to do some diagnostics) and the throttles are REALLY stiff. Not bad in and out of gear and the first 10% for close-quarter handling but past that they are STICKY.
I really appreciate all the help so far, thanks SFBC community!

When you are considering a sun/rain shade keep in mind what it will be like holding the rod vertical while you back up to let your partner net the fish. A short porch off the cabin may be practical but a full cover can be a pain to fight fish with (IMO).Yeah, it is the one with the newer 150s. With my walk around I can fight a fish all around my boat and bottom fish off the front when I have 4 people on board, a great use of space imowalk arounds are a waste of space. closed cabins/bulkheads are no good in the summer heat and very little space on deck for everyone to share the experience when fishing. so many things to consider. lol
exactly the info I was looking for, thanks. There are friction adjustments on the Yamaha binnacles. I haven’t seen the boat but I’m assuming it’s a 704 dual binnacle, quick google search will show you how to adjust the friction.
Haha money shot.
5 gallon bucket with snap on toilet seat works great. I have a toilet and have never used it Grady purchased 1991. I have just told those fishing with me if you use it, you clean it.
You would have froze your tail off today and had to head in, due to the waves. It was a nice day to have the boys warm in the cabin and the dads in lots of layers on the back deck. Ribs are great but nothing to do with this thread.Gawd, I have an 11 foot RIB inflatable with a 15 hp 4 stroke. I can fish all over, fresh and salt. I just pack it in the box of my pick up and go. Easy on gas. Can launch almost anywhere. Lots of power. Can fish 3 easily, four people if necessary. If you have back issues it may not be a great option.
I am so glad I am “low budget”.![]()
