Going to install a Blue Sea add a battery kit soon and I have this question.
Is it necessary to install a breaker or fuse in between the battery switch and a switch panel that already contains fuses?

If I was doing an install and going anywhere bow to stern I would add a breaker. Doesn't matter what the length is. It's all the same

Ok, I have about a total of 44 amps going up to the panel. What size of breaker would be the norm? Thanks

I would go for a 50 or 60 amp one of these

Rating would depend on the size of the wire going to panel.

Oh and don't forget about adding the battery terminal fuses to that setup

I would just stick an 80 amp breaker in there. Its only fire prevention

Rule of thumb with wire coming off a battery that is not powering a starter motor.. 12 inches from the battery, fuse or breaker. You cannot fuse a starter circuit. I don't think its crucial with transport canada on exactly max 12 inches, however it is in other industries, so i just use that as a rule of thumb.

Between forward fuse block and battery I used a 100 amp ANL fuse. 2awg cable. between ACR batteries 80 amp Maxi fuse 6 awg cable.
