22ft Outrage w/whaler drive - restoration

Sunday we got a few hours into the project. Not sure if I'm happy with the results yet, but better than it was.

I had a bow thruster install to do in early May, got that out of the way, and jumped back into this build. The fun stuff started mid May. putting things back together.

Fuel tank had a 2-step conversion bonerite M-CR 1201 Areo (alodine 1201) and C-IC 79 aero metal prep. The we emptied a 1gal kit of interprotect ontop of that. After curing we used PVC board and bonded that to the epoxy using 5200. Then the tank was glued into the boat using 291 so the bond on that side is weaker. We shimmed and glued the tank in on the side with built up PVC blocks. Lastly, we used 2 aluminum straps as a failsafe to hold the tank down, this was interfaced with 5200PVC glued to the tank. About 10 Tubes total..yikes!

Brendan did a fantastic job the the tank, and hopefully, my extra work will allow it to live as long as this boat can.

I connected the owner with a good mate who has taken on the electrical portion as I don't care for that sissy work :P That has allowed me to focus on the mechanical portion as we have a firm deadline June 27th.

The motors went on really nicely. Got a tip how scaffold can be used in a pinch. Use caution lol (thanks Johnny boy)

The console had to be re-cored in some places it was just too nasty to leave alone. We were out of foam so wood was used and epoxy coated, hoping for the best with that.

Consol dash bezsel has an intentional lip so things won't slide off the dash as easily. The 7 Lowrance will be for gauges with a VVlink and he has a 16” lowrance above for everything else.
Hardware was upgrade in places S.S cleats and new Gemlux rod holders all around. The fiberglass reinforced downrigger mounts worked well, providing much-needed support on the sub par whaler gunnels OG design. The scotty plates look okay, but no much I could do about those.
The electrician should be done by this weekend so I can bolt down the console, rig engines and fill it up with fuel.
It should be floating by Sunday if things go smoothly and the customer stops adding pumps etc lol

calling BS on Sunday dreamer.....lol

Is this thing covered in blood that doesn’t belong to you yet or what
if only you knew .....ha ha..... let Myles show you that one ....
anyways i won it was ready to float but old Seastar seals had let go ... so steering helm had to be changed out

We got the Whaler in late June. Its 90% complete but we had a hard stop on due date so will finish a few things off in the fall/winter.
She does about 44-45MPH WOT with 19pitch Enertia Props 1 person full fuel (400L) so for those who doubted me the proof is in the whaler drive :P

3-3.3MPG fuel at 28-30MPH

The customer is very happy, and he should be this boat is a stud. Looking forward to fishing on it soon.
