Popped out to Becher today in the ol' yak with a pal. Jigged through quite a bit of bait but only hooked into two fish all day. Landed one around 3-4 lbs and lost a better one. My pal hooked into a decent one, but it shook itself loose, too. Crabbing was a little better, but tons of just unders. The sun was glorious.

Was out yesterday for the first time in a couple months. Tried Whirl Bay and Pedder. Lots of small springs, from shakers to 55 cm. Nothing worth keeping. Lost a couple that felt a bit bigger. Completely different from last winter when average size was way bigger. We also struck out on crab with lots of undersize and a few red rock. Quite a lot of boats out competing for the same tack out front of Pedder.

Beautiful morning out there today. First skunk in a while. Whirl Bay and the Navy can. Some bait at the later.

Paddled out to the Navy can yesterday with some pals to take advantage of the beauty day. Jigged through masses of bait all morning and ended up landing a few - the biggest being around 6 lbs. Unfortunately, two of the three lost were solid fish. One rushed the surface only to dog me back down to 75'. It looked to be in the low teens, but I didn't get a great look. Telling myself that they were for sure wild fish. Eeee. Swapping out the assist hooks before I head out again.

Dropped the crab trap in a spot that's normally pretty good and only had red rocks and females with much of the bait still in the cage. Pretty sure I need to retire my trap as the rust is starting to show.
