2025 Nanaimo Reports

Snuck out to Entrance in the weather window today but could only manage some unders; one 58 cm and three at 60 cm. Talk about book ends!
The bait was incredible at times and had me briefly panicked that I had drifted up on the reef when the bottom started reading 50’ with 210’ of downrigger line out. The bait ball in the attached pic filled the screen twice 😳
What time were u out for tide ..?
 
Finally got out in 2025 and hit the ditch at Entrance. The two of us got our four springs and lost many more.
Not one shaker and the smallest under was 55cm. They’re out there folks. One of the few double headers resulted in a 63 and 78

One a side note; I’m going back to the tandem hook setup on hoochies and Flashflies after losing so many large fish after iseemingly solid hook-ups with the swivel and large J-hook rig. The same thing happened to me on one bad day last season as well.
I have always used 4/0 Mustad siwash. Goto for most of the guides and commies I believe.

Exactly what I rigged my single hook hoochies and Flashflies with because it was guides that influenced me to rig them that way.
With a bead and a swivel the bend of the hook is just covered up by the tail. Should I have it further forward, further back? Am I overthinking it? Where do you place the hook?
