2025 Gulf Island Reports

I got out today for one last go before the closure. We hit active pass. Northeast side. A westcoast skinny g on one side, west coast coho killer on the other side. We had a ton of action. We released quite a few in the 50cm-60 cm range. Including a 59 and 61 cm. We released a nice lingcod. And kept a 68cm and 74cm chinook. Pretty good day. 1000010330.jpg

Took advantage of the bathtub conditions yesterday for a day trip across. Nothing crazy but found our lings. Less prawn & crab than usual but was only a 3hr soak. Can’t complain going home with a nice sampler pack tho.

Beauty day!

What ramp is that pictured? Somewhere on the Fraser?

Can anyone enlighten me as to the new regs on pinks? Is all of area 18 open to fish except whale and rock fish conservation zones? TIA

Large portion of 18 is “no salmon fishing” from first whale sighting. Also the ridiculous sanctuary zones.
This is 2024. I haven’t seen the 2025 map yet but heard it’s the same. 🤷‍♂️

question:can you target bottom fish in a srkw

Quick trip on the ferry to drop a vehicle off this weekend…. Couple of clowns fishing the Mayne Island North RCA this fine morning. I see this far more often than I’d like (at least once every trip over). Would be nice if the DFO ever made an appearance.

Is it open for ling cod and rock fish in the straight right now? I feel like it was closed the last couple of years or in 2023?
