2025 Bamfield and Barkley Sound Reports

whittlestone is a better producer through august for sure. nothing wrong with a few swipes though, to check for bait holding.
They key to those areas is having the crew that can handle a little slop. I didn’t for a short stretch while I was there and man did it suck to have to leave good fishing for calmer waters

Blah. From 1/2 hour before first light today, trolled 3 rods- hootchie, chovy, spoon- 8 hours Sail, Alley, Great Bear… and zero. Not a bite.

Wanted something, so put on swim baits for lingcod in the honey holes… and zero. Not a bite.

Major plankton bloom the issue? The zero bite thing was a first. Not a fun one. Argh.

We had a good morning at Swale. Tons of 5-10lb grade fish around. We boxed a 15 and 20 and lost a couple more big ones. Seemed like everyone was catching. The bloom doesn't seem to go very deep. Clear water can be seen mixing where the waves are breaking on the rocks.
