How was Wednesday with all the rain? Anything between Lighthouse and Wya?

Sooo much rain lately. Meh. I didn’t spend too much time between the two but when I did I caught a coho and a 12 # spring.

How has everyone been doing with Dungeness crabs in the harbour? I haven't seen many legal size males since 2018.

Was out at Wya Weds early morning before the rain for a couple hrs. Bite was OK but not great for us. First time hooking into a few Mackerel trolling.

Only in the winter when the guides are gone.

Yes, you will be hard pressed to find a legal dungey in the harbour at this time of year it seems. Though I still try. Just a few red rocks every time.

Thinking of fishing big bank but was curious to know if there were just coho and halibut out there? Or the odd Chinook too? Haven’t had to go to the la perouse in a couple of years.

The odd spring at outside south? Or southwest corner still after all the rain?

First few days in the sound and along the shoreline have been an unusual struggle for august for us.

I haven’t been myself but I heard the storey yesterday of great fishing for both. More coho than springs but the springs they caught were gooders.

Haha, it's all good. Most of us don't crab in the summer either. Not much influx of new crab. April - May and the traps go away... I hate crab

I was out at BIG bank a couple of years ago. Got limits for 4 guys on Chinook, Coho and Hali within a few hrs. The problem was trying to get the gear down far enough to get Chinook. 95% of the time a Coho would grab it on the way down. We'd have to drop the gear in deeper water outside the kill zone then troll back in to the shallower shelf.

Went trolling out front by Red Can, lighthouse to Little Beach for 1.5 hrs. 7 other boats. Not even a bite for us. Never saw anyone else hook up. I'll try Wya tomorrow.

Fished the light for an hour towards the end of the flood. Picked up one teener. Only reporting as I'm pretty sure I saw Rayvon's old searay out there..... cool boat. where's Sttr?

I caught a mid teener at 8 this morning at light house but definitely slowing down out there even at wya from what I’ve heard. Sounds like big bank is the place to be now.

Same for us, had a solid fish yesterday afternoon at little beach, but lost it close to the boat, besides that nothing, didn’t see anyone hook up, bonked a couple at the red can Friday night. Time to switch tactics me thinks

Good fishing at Wya today. Was out from 9am for a couple hrs. 3 Chinook in the box and lost 3 other good hook ups. Finished off the day with a stop for a nice Ling and limits on Black Rockfish.
