2024 Campbell River Reports

i remember this time last year the action died down. picked up a bit closer to September and it was really good. but man. it is definitely slower than molasses in january right now

Any reports from north of the Narrows? Greensea is a great place to pick up coho this time of year, thanks.

For what it’s worth - the Area 12 Test Boat Seine Fishery is showing very poor results for everything but pink salmon.
Sockeye has been poor - not unexpected- first year after the Adams big run - coho almost non-existent. Yesterday for 6 sets, only 2 coho.

pinks pinks pinks pinks pinks pinks galore. crazy amounts of biomass right now. we never went to chatham or greensea, we ran out of time

Went out from 4 to 8pm last night. Fished between Green Can and Fransisco and it was dead - still no bait. Lot of boats were fishing the bay just north of Fransisco Point (I can't remember the name of that area) so we went there but it was slow there too - pinks only for us. Went to hump and released a few more pinks, an undersized spring and landed a hatchery coho. Hoping for the bait to return and things to pick up again.

My son-in -law is here needed fish=so fri at 0540 headed for sentry shoal-some bait at 270 feet on the RCA line-jigged it-nada-trolled down the east side of the shoal-some marks-picked up some coho but essentially and officially SLOW. Headed for Grants- Nice bait 230 ft north end - the shoal-jigged couple of really good sized cod. Trolled south-half way down- fish 240 feet-showing lots of marks-boated a very nice 79cm but that was it -bait disappeared on the tide turn. Crossed to Kitty- heavy bait-lots of fish-Jigged a nice spring within 5 min. Headed to Kitty this am early-very rough but the fish are there-finished by 0640--so boys and girls that is where the bait and fish are. Be warned-the ramp is a nightmare and there is NO PARKING what-so- ever!!! At PPlayground

Went up to the Penns, 4 just unders boatside, 3 more at Francisco then lost a bigger one. Finished up with 70cm and 80cm lingcod before heading in, absolutely gorgeous day out there with humpbacks and flat calm water.
