Yep, lgm it is. My 3rd year over there and I'm happy with them in general. Xmas closure and limited trailer parking in the summer have been the only downfalls so far. Man, this city needs more boat launches and storage spaces for us locals.Ate you at lgm by chance? J know they sent a note out around holiday closures but I didn't look closely at it since we are away. See how it goes over there...glad in keep a second slip up the Coast
My friends and I all have this dream of one day having the East Van Yacht Club off of New Brighton. As if.Yep, lgm it is. My 3rd year over there and I'm happy with them in general. On the report side, thanks for sending in the reports. Hopefully, this is the starts of a good winter fishing season in our local waters.

Man....that one looks like it's a bit emaciated....must be some hungry fish down there...Lots of bait at the Bell. Lots of under sized and one legal so far. All on Herring between 90-110 on the riggers and in 125-140 ft waterView attachment 42076
Ya "slim" pickings. (Pun intended) would have normally released that one but we are out of salmon and need something to go with the crab and prawns. ☺Man....that one looks like it's a bit emaciated....must be some hungry fish down there...
That's understandable!Ya "slim" pickings. (Pun intended) would have normally released that one but we are out of salmon and need something to go with the crab and prawns. ☺
Riggers 210'?1 in the box, hatchery Chinook, 210’ on a glow spoon. Lots of boats out now.
Did you have any just the prawn heads in your traps? The octopus will do that; eating the bodies and leaving the heads behind. And once they come in and around your traps the number of prawns will be much lower than if they aren't around the octopuses. There's been so many around this year and last. I think like three to four times as many octopus over any other years I've had them in the prawn traps. Not sure if it's mainly where I'm prawning but I've found them all over the place on both sides of the straight and all different sizes of growth but much more small ones lately and they love the prawns. I've been spacing my traps out a bit more lately to try to increase the odds that if there are octopus where I set then hopefully they will stick to one trap.Yes, riggers at 210’. Didn’t do so well on prawns.
Do you freeze the heads then throw them in a blender?Did you have any just the prawn heads in your traps? The octopus will do that; eating the bodies and leaving the heads behind. Saying that too though I've also had much better prawning when my traps are soaked longer than a day. Just risk the thieves though if you do soak that long. A tip too is that prawns love the scent of prawn parts/heads/guts mixed in with the pellets and other baits. I've been grinding up the heads and mixing them in with my other bait ingredients.
Yes exactly what I do. I add them to frozen pellets and grind it all together. The pellets grind up much better and don't cake together as much when they are frozen. After that's all mixed up I add other fish oils and fish parts/guts etc to it all and mix together. I usually make enough for a few trips at once and freeze it in prawn bait jar size portions. The red solo cups are a good size to use for pre portion freezing I find. I can just slip the frozen amounts out right into the bait cans. I only fill the bait containers up about 2/3 full so that water can swash around in the bait containers dispersing the sent and bait fragments around and out of the containers too. I drill extra holes in my bait containers to help get more scent out. One day I'd like to put some cameras down in the traps to see what goes on down there and see if the prawns come and go like some people think they do from the traps. Herring parts work very well to added to the bait especially if there's blood in there too.Do you freeze the heads then throw them in a blender?
