This conflict is going to get very ugly quickly. Wow look at that price.
After 50 years of watching this type of made-for-T.V. drama unfold, I can't help but believe it's again, scripted. The U.S. and Russia have telegraphed their intentions for months. The media has amplified the sabre-rattling for weeks, with occasional breaks for trucker protests. Ad revenues will be up. The banks, the military-industrial complex, the energy companies and of course, politicians are all benefiting. They are in the spotlight as they condemn this latest conflict with "It's awful. Stop it!" The U.S. economy and social order depend on perpetual war. Americans, without an outside threat, will eat their own. The only losers in this latest mess will be Ukrainians, as were the Syrians, Libyans, Afghans and Iraqis before them. The beat goes on.

It's not just the gas at the pump that's going to hurt the wallet, but heating up your place is also going to be more expensive. If you use natural gas for heat, you may want to prioritize that weather proofing project and reduce the heat leak. My gas bill has been going up steadily over the last year and this is going to put more tension on the market in the long run.

The price of asphalt is going through the ruff. lloydminster and strathcona price gouging

We go through this every few years.
In 1999 the seasonal accumulation of stocks did not occur because of producers' attempts to curb production at a time when the rate of demand growth was increasing, and it contributed to the doubling of the oil price during the year.
The next oil price "shock" of $147 in July of 2007 was explained away as the failure of supply to keep pace with increasing demand. (As though the oil companies were surprised by this?)
Then in 2013, August Brent crude was $107.46, after six days of increases "as Egypt's problems" continued. The concern was access to the Suez Canal.
Covid put a lid on it for a while but something always gives.

With the War in the Ukraine we may be looking at $3+L. Even more so if the West feels it has to reduce or shut down oil imports from Russia to put more pressure on lil ol' Putin!

Yup, let’s not use Canadian gas/ oil.

Be nice if we could fast & easy, but we rely too much on the $ selling to others. Be a fairly big economic, political change to stop exporting and use it for ourselves. But who knows maybe we should/need to in time?

Right? We’re now up to $23+ billion on a $4billion pipeline when that money would and probably should be better spent on another refinery. While we’re wishing, near Kamloops would be a good place.

If it gets to $2 a litre, i won’t be travelling far to fish. It adds up too quick on top of heating home. Think this will affect how much and far average people fish

Feds drop 20 Billion on TMX so we can ship the stuff out of country and never, never any talk about building some refining capacity so we can employ Canadians building it, refining it and Canadians can benefit from controlling our own supply.

cant build refinery’s in Canada or it would push us over carbon targets

The only thing our amateur politicians have ever proven capable of is giving away our inheritance and making a wealthy country poor.

The time to build new meaningful refining capacity was 10-15yrs ago. There are too many anti-everything groups for it to even be a remote possibility these days..
