blow the house and just have a 65' coastal craft...lol about 4.5 mil

Only drawback of the 28 is the 8.5' beam. 10' is good and the 11' 11" of the commander is great. Cutwaters are shiney bling for sure. A happy wife is a happy life.
Quiet you! Haha. You're supposed to compliment a guy with an 8.5' beam on how "light and efficient" his boat is.
This was a tough pill to swallow.

Anyhoo sea trial Friday, this will be the first time my wife sees it in person. Wish me luck.

Whoa I heard coastal craft was going up market but that's awesome. Any idea where they built this thing?

Did u look at the 04 30' commander on canmar?or the 03 26' commander?

The Cutwater has lots of bling. She'll like it. Tell us the cruise speed, rpm, and burn of the cutwater after you seatrial.

i worked on the above and i think all but one of the 65's put in the stone / tile work on the showers and heads...
the above one even had an elevator ....

yep fun coming down the hill and bc hydro cost lifting power lines was not cheap.
the fly bridge was then retro fitted. down at the marina

An elevator, that's amazing. How many 65s were built? I wonder how many are local as I haven't seen any around but I will keep an eye out for sure.

Must have been very cool to have been part of that build. Nice work.

Make sure you test everything! I have done a few surveys and always seemed to miss something. A good surveyor will do this for you.
Run WOT for 5 minutes and watch the temperature gauge. Do full speed turns and look for any sloppy steering or lack of response. If not rough cross your wake a few times and see how it performs and listen for creaks or rattles. Listen and feel for vibrations at all rpms. Check all helm stations. Use the autopilot. Check the fuel filter bowl for water or contaminents. Find out when last oil change. Check thru hulls for ease of use. Flush the toilet, check firesh water pressure at all taps.
Run the electronics and check firmware revision as may need to be updated.
Run the Yamaha kicker at full throttle and idle and check steering.
Raw water wash down
Anchor windless
Battery levels
Shore power
Check that the macerator works. That’s a $250 bill if it doesn’t. I know!

And finally check that all 4 sinks work!

Anything you find defective can be negotiated in your final offer

As much as someone would say "yah yah I know" I probably would have forgot something for sure! Thanks for the heads up. I have a mechanic coming for the sea trial and won't proceed with the survey until I'm 100% confident with the powertrain. (Do they use that term in boats?)

The mechanic that surveyed mine used an infrared thermometer to check temperatures on all the cylinders, transmission, turbo, exhaust, etc. I did an oil analysis too. Does it have a factory new engine or is it a rebuild?

X2 on the infared thermometer. Crappy Tire has their cheap ones on for $20 right now. I use mine for all kinds of stuff

Another thing keep a close eye out for rust stains and poorly sealed deck hardware. Window leaks are a gigantic pain in the butt. Spyder cracks in the gel coat and any old impact damage around the swim grid. This boat is in the water? Does it include any original warranty?

Flick every switch, test shore power and have a very good look at zings and through hulls. Any valves below the waterline make sure those are functional and make sure the bilge pumps are fully functional.

Oh and do the requisite sea trial donuts for sure.
