What Did You Do To Your Boat This Week?

yep. no obsolete stuff here.
maybe i'll ebay the old stuff.
cant actually handle the boat solo with analog controls. the digital ones have remote handhelds and programming so i can control the boat steering and propulsion from the dock - or my phone. hard to control something the size of 3 semi trucks side by side solo without crew unless you use digital help.
If you ever film yourself landing the boat remotely from the dock, using your phone, please post it up here.

I’m not a fan of the angle on those tubes
The stock angle vertically or the position they're set in? I love these things, but only if the riggers are set low enough that you're not reaching too much.
I like the angle better on rods that point straight back. The ones out the side the rods are a pointing a bit higher than I like. They are pretty easy to grab the rods out. Overall I’m glad I have them

I prefer a lower angle on the rod. Each to their own

I think they’re a great design due to their strength and choice of two different angles. My center console helm, I have the downrigger’s in line with them so as I’m driving the boat, I can see the cable angle and the rods in the forward position easily. If I have guest that sit upfront in those lodge style seats, I get them to use the rearward angle rodholder so the guest can run back if there’s a strike and the rod comes out easy because they’re pointed to the back which is the way they’re running. I do know what you mean by the lower angle, some guide boats that I fish around here have the rods almost at the same degree of an angle as the downrigger boom .

It looks like you’re west of Fairfax in this photo. 18-6
( pretty sure that it’s closed for salmon retention for the month of August )
East ( 18-4 ) is open except for the whale sanctuary
Mans owned the boat for quite a while, as much as i would like to think he went out and got skunked to take a photo for me he probably grabbed it from his old photos.

There was no retention done. We followed the herd on the east side and we were just cruising back in around the corner then pulled up and went home. If we caught one there we would’ve let it go.

Just like we let go a 59cm fish which would be well into keeper size in many other areas.

Thanks for the reminder tho!

Yep. I took it last night for you!

No concern on my part. I’m not the fish cops. ( I only noticed the closure because I was looking up something else recently )
But I guess it’s an example of a good reason to check for updated reg changes. I would never have guessed that they’d close areas once they opened up the coast for retention in August.

Replaced my failed 3 in 1 Lowrance transducer with an Airmar P66 set for 200Hz. Reinstalled my pitot tube speed gauge at the same time, with readout on Yamaha gauges. Decided to use plastic mounting blocks for a neater installation and fewer holes in the hull. Previous holes filled with JB Weld epoxy.

High water alarm went off late afternoon up at Greensea Saturday.. shut off all through hulls and looked for any water leaks on my cooling lines, cut short our overnight trip and headed back to CRiver..
Found it yesterday after putting boat back in water in Nanaimo to test all through hulls fittings, washdown pump, and engine side for water leaks..found it 1st thing I checked.
A short hose going to wash down hose side was split on the manual selector valve that switches between bait tank or washdown
Fixed that and also swapped in a new higher gph rear bilge pump as the old one wasn't keeping up to the water that came in, hence the alarm..new 1250gph one is night and day over old 1000gph one...note don't leave washdown pump all day 😎
Pic is old plastic hose, was split about 1/4 in down from hose clamp, canged out with better rubber hose, also sprayed the whole area down with super clean after wards and then gave it all a good blast with garden hose, cleaned up like new again, probably 23yrs since that area has seen day light.
