What Did You Do To Your Boat This Week?

Must be the same, I've seen a number of different brands but it's the same chemical. Cost $30 for a gallon or 4 liters at Trotac. Here is a before and after picture I made
What a change! Hard to tell in the photos if it looks “ chemically died white “ or if that’s “ natural aluminum” either way looks like it did its job.
I believe this is the same product napa carries, all the truckers swear by it for their wheel shine.

Welding! Bit of grinding and polishing ahead of me but my buddy came and welded it up for me. Obligatory visit to a friend of a friends memorial tomorrow so won’t get much more done this weekend. But it’s welded!!! More pics to come

Took Elvira to Pitt on Sunday. Got stuck at the dock for about 2 hrs as Search and rescue recovered a body. Literal S show getting out of there. Beautiful day and fish were at 127 feet ish. Few bites, good day trolling. 20230625_132839.jpg20230625_131148.jpg20230625_131154.jpg

Whew, it’s friggin hot here today. Since last update we added a front visor and a rim around the roof hanging over the back deck. This morning before the heat hit I cut out my front windows. Now Ive got some wind blowing through it’ll be a lot cooler. This evening I’ll swap out the old fuse block for a modern one with a new switch panel. Got a couple nice surprises today too. My side windows are finally ready for pick up and my Daughter called and told the wife and I that we are going to be Grandparents.

I put a sprinkler on the roof, grabbed the go box, some dog supplies, a few clothes, the dog, the truck and left both boats behind during a 7 hour fire evacuation order.
I didn't feel guilty. I think I need a boat I love more.
All good now. Alert downgrade from order. Two 4 engine retardant droppers, a few smaller planes and helos got on it pretty fast.
Could hear the ground crews chainsawing when we got home. Regular fire crew were lined up to protect homes. Not sure how close it got yet. Many thanks to all the 1st responders.

Had an incident at the boat launch last month where a piece of brake shoe broke off and jammed one hub. That's it, no more brakes for me. Trailer is under the 1400 kg threshold and I disconnected them 5 years ago anyway due to niggly issues with dragging.

Today: trailer brakes, gone. All innards removed, new bearings packed, grease buddies refilled. All the other work was truck-related: oil changed, coolant replaced.

Almost ready! Got my main and kicker installed and rigged.

That kicker bracket looks like way too much leverage is put on the splash well which are never laid up heavy. You need to tie it into the transom some how or you may lose your kicker, bracket and a big section of your splash well . Fair warning.
