lets get off our DUFFS BOYS we need you all to attend if you didn't make it last time nows your chance we need to fill the room again Rumor has it 1st 50 get a free beer I think Gail Shea is flipping the bill !

I think a hundred might be stretchin' it Smiley but yeah, learned lots more about what the DFO don't know.

With all due respect to those caring DFO personnel who are hamstrung by the dark political shadows cast over this resource - we gotta' step-up here and protect this precious resource before these yo-yo's back East manage it into extinction!

Thanks to Gerry, Tom & Martin for attending and providing excellent input and to Chris for trying his best keep the fracas in order.

yeah, i counted about 70 - that is very disappointing seeing that this was the chance to really get in a DFO soldiers face and we were able to muster up 400 for an 'information' meeting only on halibut. As it was, DFO was definitely squirming even with the numbers we had even.

Interesting on the apparent acknowledgement by a slipper skipper that he is pretty sure Pattison 'controls' 50% of the quota one way or another, therefore, he (the s.s.) doesn't give a rats arse about any rally attempts by the sport. He can just ride coattails and never have to worry. Really sad state of the fishery we have and I really don't like the path that salmon is going down either.

They were squiming cause Wilf didnt know what to say when a few select people asked him some very hard questions. noticed he ddint answer our question as to why they shut us down for almost 3 1/2 months when there was 1 coded fish returned WTF 1 fish cmon......but its wide open from cadboro pt up to the fraser till july??? then he puts up the graph of how in june the numbers really show up large for our area march, april, nay almost non existant, again asked him why if thats the case why restrict us now when it is so low and no impact??? again dodging it "good point"!!!!!!!fu$k me its not hard to they have the numbers but continue to screw area 19/20....
I am totally for conservation and got to admit Rollie made a great comment something to the effect "if im doing that much damage I want to know as ill stop fishing but its got to be for conservation"

There is supposed to be a guide meeting at the end of the month so again im sure there will be some heated words for them, and even tougher questions.

On the positive Troy desousa got up and said he spoke directlly with the minister but he siad her mind was already made up by then but he pushed hard for us and he even made it a campagn issue, there is a strong coomercial voice in ottawa but we are definattly a thorn in there side so we need to continue to send even more letters on both fisheries.
A word of warning for the up island areas (nan,C.R.)you are on the radar as well for closures so if ww do something now and make a fuss hoefully you guys wont get hammered before its too late.

The biggest takeaway I kept hearing is the size of USA Chinook Puget sound runs compared to ours. We need hatcheries!!!!

did you mean the columbia river salmon? if you did, the only reason these fish are there as put and take is the stocking of 200,000,000 smolts, annually. if you really meant the puget sound runs, you folks are in deep trouble as these runs are all but extinct, right now. they do not have the ability to pump out hundreds of millions of zombies simply because of judicial action which instituted hatchery reform. read that, fewer and fewer DNA altered hatchery zombies to compete with the ESA listed wild salmon stocks. if you want to see your future, do a bit of studying up on what happened, and continues to happen, just a few miles south of vic.

So here we are now the 4th or 5th year with this slot crap and dfo is still trying to work out a plan to save the etf fish.
We've done our part for 4 or 5 years whats taking dfo so long, are you kidding me!

Its all our fault because they are only getting 1 or 2 ETF tags a year from 19/20 so we must not be handing them in and they multiply true impact to etf 10 fold because of it just cause it must be so - after all, those fish don't go anywhere else but here

DFO & the feds have created a situation that is ripe for illegal activity.
Year after year there are more restrictions and no valid conservation plans.
Eventually some anglers will get so fed up, there will be infractions.
i.e. fish taken while season is closed ,unclipped fish retained etc.

No problem, turning in heads is kinda a double edged sword because as i see it sounds great on paper but they burned us in the end.... with closing us
"DOWN TILL JUNE 17"
especially when he put the graph up stating that march to mid may we those fish are not even in our water???WTF then why shut it ????? complete bull crap!!!!! or if they want us to reduce our catch to "HIS" 50 % heres a great idea only allow us 1 over 67 not 2 the way i do math thats a 50% reduction right there see how easy it is?????? yep pure rocket science. at least give us 1 then we can fish. as i dont think i will in june as letting a 25 lb spring to float away or get ate by a seal doesnt impress me much.

And you know damn well there will be a user group putting a net across the fraser soon enough claiming wheres MY fish and we are the ones taking them GIVE ME A FRICKEN BREAK........

I personally AM NOT doing the log book for them but what im going to do is record my own as ive always done and if they want it they can pay me for my work just like any other consultant they pay... they havent done me any good so why should i personally help them.......

You know here is the funny thing about all of this how are we supposed to turn in heads when they only do so little amount of coded wre tags i think he said 5000 or 10000 when the survival rate is 2 %thats only about maybe a 50 or 200 hatchery fish returning.

OH wait Ive got another great idea lets produce more fish in the hatchery!!!!! so more fish = more for everyone see the pattern guys its all rocket science. they should take lessions from the USA where all fish relased have fins clipped and tags... again rocket science

MY rant for the day..
