Victoria Boat Show Feb 21 to 23rd.

Wow. Wise Buys have always given me top service, as have Island Outfitters and Trotac. Please let them know. Personally I'm taken aback by your comment Sviflyguy.

Taken aback? Because I don't see the need to go out to Colwood to buy something I can buy in town? Or because I was unimpressed by the way my friend was treated?

I have been taken aback by the anti IO comments I've read on here myself. I've always gotten excellent service and their prices aren't any higher than anywhere else... Yet I read Anti IO bs on here almost any time they are mentioned.

Personally I am pumped for the Boat show, last year i spent over 6 hours there...I really enjoyed the halibut seminar as im new to halibut fishing i found it very informative! Not to mention the gucci boats to drool over...to top if off i bought an Amundson reel paired with a HMX rod for a good price.

I'll be there. Lots to see.
Plenty of boats to drool over, many suppliers to talk directly to, lots of fishing friends to shoot the shat with.

If you don't like IO then don't go by their area. If you don't want to pay to get in then stay home. (or dress as a girl and get in for free)

I just laughed/spit some coffee on my keyboard. Thanks!

There has been some great deals on tackle over the years. One I liked a couple of years or so back when they announced at the end of the Halibut Seminar that Delta Tackle had some great deals at their booth on large Halibut Jigs. I raced over there and they had a lot of the Giant Skirt Glow Halibut Jigs with different size glow coated pendulum weights, at give away prices - $6.00 each I think it was. I quickly picked through them and grabbed a bunch of the largest with the 32 OZ weight which are very pricy retail and can get down deep in the current. Even the 15 oz ones retail in the $20.00 range so I was happy to get the 32 oz ones for such a good price. You can take off the weight and put it on a spreader bar if you wish.

If you look around you can usually find some good deals, but not usually the same deals each year. I always walk away with some great deals on teaser heads and the latest flashers.

Still think the admission fee is a bargain compared to the $300.00 it costs me to hit the ferry, eat, drive over, park, and get in the door at the Vancouver Boat Show, even if this show is smaller. I like the slightly slower pace and local manufactures presence and larger numbers of those in the local sport fishing community I actually know.

I don't think the guys at Wise Buys would be too upset that you don't want to drive out of your way. The fact is that their location is suited to people who are in the west shore or are heading freshwater fishing in the west shore or going to Sooke to Renfrew.
If the best smear you can come up with is the fact that nobody acknowledged your friend (owner of Forged Reels) who wasn't able to deliver on a reel he tried to bring to market for Wise Buys (after 9 months). I would have to mark that as a positive for Wise Buys. From what I have read on this forum and forged reels Facebook page your friend has opened himself up to a textbook defamation suit. I told Colin this and he couldn't care less.
You are right, there is a lot of anti IO comments on here. I know Bill and Colin quite well. They don't care about all this BS. They are focussed on their business and are preoccupied with that. And I will say that as a friend and a customer they are doing an excellent job.

There is a lot more to that comment then you can see. Its a childish smear campaign. And a lousy one at that. The end!

That was an odd conclusion that you jumped to... I don't know the guy that you're talking about.

And I am in no way "smearing" anybody. I simply posted why I don't go there. I'm sure that they won't miss my money, as they never had it. I have nothing good or bad to say about them. I've never been

I was simply replying to someone that was complaining about their absence at the boat show. To me.

As for the Forged reels, I'm not a fan. And I know they are still having issues with their moocher. I'm guessing that is the reel you meant. There is a reason Islander doesn't sell reels for 350.00. They can't be made for that price, so any knock off will have it's issues.

I love Island Outfitters. They have done an incredible job at marketing and promoting sport fishing in our area. Great Derbies, Victoria Boat and Sportsman Show. Generous support of SVIAC, SFAB, PSF. Fabulous staff, etc.etc. They are the first to step to the table in advertising dollars, supporting fishing geeks like myself and have done a bang up job at being able to survive in a tough market. Look at all the stores that have disappeared over the years. Being able to compete against big chains and the internet is a tough proposition and I would hate to ever see them disappear from our market.

Wise buys, Nice Guys, are also doing a great job. Its not easy starting a tackle shop in our communities and Wise Buys is doing everything it can to form a strong business in the western communities and I wish them well.

Forged reels, I have four of the reels myself and they are an exceptional reel for $350.00. After looking at the build and quality of these reels I have mentioned to the principals that they should be selling them for a lot more. Cutting the price only gives the illusion that they are an inferior product. They are a hell of a deal and great quality and the 100 reels that just came in will go fast. I can easily see a waiting list come this summer

There's a deal for the boat show entrance fee up at the following site (Social Shopper, like Groupon), half price:

https://www.socialshopper.com/victoria-|-vancouver-island

If you wish to take advantage, below is a referral link to sign-in/up:

https://www.socialshopper.com/welcome.php?ssref=211154

Really, You kidding?! Please stop spamming over here!! For your information, everybody can get the ticket from the original website or at the door with the same price you offer!!!!

Don't think so...best deal on the website is $6 per ticket, $12 for two. The socialshopper deal appears to be $9.00 for two tickets.
Suggest you head back to your cave, Amir.

I don't personally offer anything Amir, just passing on a deal I learned about today and used myself to get my tickets. You don't want to use it, don't. Price is $4.50 a ticket, $4.25 for a group of 4. As a relatively new fisher/boater, I"m looking forward to the show.

Purple whatever.........your a asshat by the way :p

Adler, please ignore my previous post. It was a misunderstanding! Thanks for sharing the deal...
