I'm currently moored at Burrard Marina and have a dirty stern after only 1 month (tried to post a video on the GoPro thread but it's currently waiting for a moderators approval?). I'm arranging to have it moored in the freshwaters of Vancouver Marina in Richmond. I love having it so close to work but after seeing what only 1 month has done to the underside of the boat, and who knows what's going on inside the motor, I'm more than anxious to get it out of there. You are right though, its a nice sight entering false creek after a long day of fishing.
BTW, here's the video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=45XPC-T_ljw
Video was taken on Sunday after about a month in the water. No, this boat is new to me and has never been left in the water.
Website says available June 1, so just 4 months away.
Says under construction, its right behind my office bulding according the map, I'll go take a look next time I'm there.
I registered a long time ago, havent heard from them.
Moorage I have found in Vancouver is annual. On the river it may be different, but, Milltown is definitely annual. BTW, no way that place is going to be done by June unless they're building it somewhere else and plan to drag docks and buildings in up the river.
Hey Nick try to get into buarrd civic, we have a good crew who all fish out of there. Close to all the spots as well.
Milltown just sent me their contract for dry stack as well. Its about the same cost as Burrard Civic. Usually Burrad Civic starts having vacancies in March/early April. Personally I believe dry stack is the better option. Never have to paint boat and worry about it taking on water if you're away for a while, but, Burrard Civic is much better located to get out to fishing grounds and for quick family trips and probably will save on fuel burn. Overall I'd say its the better choice.
I've experienced all those things you talk about F.M.! The 6 foot standing waves at the mouth can provide some serious "pucker" factor. Motor don't fail me now!! Dead heads that are barely visible, natives nets, yeah all true. I hit something the other year right at the end of the river that seriously bent the prop and scared the bejeezus out of me. I never did see what I hit. I thought it might have been a seal! Thank goodness I had a kicker which got me back to the launch an hour later. I think I needed wide open throttle to push me back up the river. So yeah, the river has some drawbacks!!
I checked them out last night too, they are priced the same as where I am now at mosquito creek and have lessIm curious if anybody is signed up for moorage at Milltown the new marina on the north arm. I spent sometime at there booth at the boat show but am still undecided. It's too bad they don't offer seasonal moorage and there in water prices are pretty high compared to other river moorages.
