when are you going, im going to be at island west july 8 9 10 will be going for some hali out at the banks. weather permiting

The contour lines on chart 3602 west southwest of Cape Beale 5 or 7 miles out looks like rats head, nose pointing west? It's one big bank out there with a hole in the middle. Find some depth changes, tide rip line, surf line and drop your gear,Good luck[:p]

Last time I checked, the rat's nose was about 21 nautical miles off Cape Beale. Has it moved since?[?]

That location is called the rat's nose because, if you look at the chart, it resembles a rat's nose (the above waypoint is the tip of the nose). Look carefully at the chart and you will see an area of the banks where the contour of the bottom resembles a rat's face, the nose pointing southwest.
