Trollmaster Pro Remote Throttle Only

Here's some pics showing the bracket mount I had to construct. Located the controller beside my rear helm and the throttle. The other pics show how the cable ends and the servo are mounted on the engine. There was a bit of fiddling involved in running the wiring, but more because I wanted to have a very clean install and no loose wires.

I don't know how you live with this, Pat! The back edge of the slanted mounting surface is not totally flush with the upright footing!!! Tssss

I bring my remote in to my house after every use to keep it away from moisture salt etc. i start the day with fresh batteries. two hours in it starts giving me grief. rest of the trip i’m taking out the batteries and jockeying them around. this will work for about an hour before it craps out again.
you must have accidently bought the display model prototype not made in china.

it’s a pos
I bought one of the first models of the wireless troll master and its been awesome asides from having to sand the battery terminals down every few trips. The remote would randomly shut off when moving it ever so slightly, even with new batteries. Found surface rust was forming on the battery contacts on the + side in the remote, a bit of a quick sand of the terminals and good as new. I leave mine on my boat and because its pretty old now im sure the seal for the battery enclosure is toast as I need to clean the terminals every few trips, I just keep some sandpaper on the boat.

Me either. Lol. Now I'll be going back and sanding it flush....yes, I noticed and decided to just leave it.

Looks good. I mounted mine up front and used velcro. Doesn't move a bit. Great stuff. I've used it to mount smaller pictures on the wall in the house as well. Some have been hanging for several years.

Thought about using velcro based on reading a few other forums. There was some feedback that velcro wasn't working as well for installs out in the open weather. I want/need to mount mine beside the rear helm and throttle control because I work the boat from the rear when fishing. Seemed that the best solution was to find a way to fix mount it to a bracket. So I built one. Looks good in theory, the real test will be if it survives 100 days on the water this coming season.

I bought the wired version for our small Whaler many years ago solely on the negative battery reviews that continue even today. Definitely not one day of regret. It totally changed our trolling experience. We have it mounted to the console at the helm with 2 pieces of 1", 3M double sided tape, side to side, on the back of the controller. In all the many years we've had it installed, the only time I've needed to change the tape is when I rebuilt the console and had to remove it. It is totally exposed to the weather, but seemingly unaffected. The stuff works.
Also, if the problem with the model III is the battery box, has anyone thought about soldering wires to the connections in the controller and building a small quality battery box that could be mounted to the back of the controller? A small, sealable project box, with all stainless parts and tinned wire inside, to prevent the present corrosion issues. Could still be hand held and portable. Just a thought. jc Tuna Maru
