Time to stand up for ourselves

There's another member who is having the same trouble with that DFO email. Worked for me. The other member tried 2 different emails and failed to send on both. Bounces back

The email address provided by SeaRun earlier on the 2026 Fisheries Management Proposals thread had a typo in it. The MPA in it should have read MPO. I know because it bounced back on my first attempt as well.

"Taking actions like this would also open opportunities for sustainable freshwater fisheries — giving First Nations and local anglers access to salmon once populations recover. Transitioning marine Chinook fisheries to river-based locations would have other benefits too. Freshwater harvest can target abundant salmon runs and avoid the chronic over-harvest of weak or endangered populations that occurs in mixed-stock marine fisheries. They can reduce the growing mortality from catch-and-release practices in the ocean, and they encourage the recovery of bigger, older Chinook by leaving immature Chinook to feed and grow on their rearing grounds in and around the Salish Sea.

A whale-safe window would give both whales and salmon a fighting chance — and help rebuild the abundance that freshwater fishing communities, ecosystems, and future generations depend on."

More reallocation in action, in this case sanctioned under the guise of saving the SRKW. Not sure how the wall of FN gillnets will somehow select for abundant runs while avoiding "weak or endangered" runs. By their very nature, gillnets are non selective. Such a load of BS being spewed to the uninformed masses of well meaning citizens.
If they really wanted to help the "weak or endangered" runs they would be calling for a halt to all non selective chinook gillnet fishing, which, inconvienently, is primarily being persecuted by the very FN they are in cahoots with.

This is what we’re up against
Just another example of hypocritical NGOs using FNs to achieve their fundraising goals. When are they going to sue the Feds for allowing the Thompson River Steelhead to decline to its current numbers? If they applied their support for the Species at Risk Act evenly they wouldn’t be supporting FNs’ nets in the Fraser River either.
The reality is that urban voters won’t send money to support Steelhead recovery but the NGOs can use whales to pull at their heart-strings knowing they don’t have enough information to have an informed opinion. They just provide their own ‘information’ for the balance that want to believe they are informed.

Received a confirmation from the dfo srkw email address that my input was received, about a week after I submitted. At least its not totally automated/straight into the junk folder. Recommend everyone submit their input there if not done so already

Same for me.

Or at least start with odd or even days only so half the time the gauntlet of nets won’t be there. I guess that would require enforcement though so likely a non-starter.
