Telegraph Cove Rebuilding Progress

Got sent some pic from early in the week but looks like lots of progress since then. Also I can see my permanent moorage spot and it makes me want to be there now. Thanks for posting.

Right on. Went there for the first time 36 years ago now when i was 16 and just got my licence and a tinny with a 10hp motor. Drove all the way from Maple Ridge on my own at 16 to go try my luck fishing there. Read about the North Island in Rodderick Haig Brown books growing up.
Gordie gave me a lot of salmon fishing tips when i would stay there. I think he's one of the fastest trollers ive ever seen lol but he knew how to catch them. Have been back quite a few times over the years since then and have brought friends and family there too. Was very sad to see the damage from the fire when it happened. Now that I live close by its a lot easier for me to pop in from time to time.

Like many of you, I first went to TC more than 35 years ago, and was dismayed to see the destruction of the fire. I am amazed and impressed by the determination and drive of the 80 year olds who own the resort and those who operate the Whale Interpretive Centre and have led the rebuild. Legendary.

I'm thinking that as many of us who can should show up this summer and thank them for their commitment - renting a cabin or moorage, camping, buying a meal or a beer.

Agreed. I will be at least a couple times through Summer.

that is in the plans this year

remember the first time i was there. late eighties. we camped in the area which is now a parking lot.rabbits all over the place. we set out in a 16’ lund with a 9.9 Johnson as the main. seems like suicide venturing out into Johnstone straight in a craft that small now. tried for days for halibut with no luck

Fishing group anyone?

Season begins May 1!

April 21st, 2026
Opening day is almost here, and we’re excited to welcome everyone back starting May 1 for another unforgettable season at Telegraph Cove Resort.

After a year of rebuilding and moving forward, this season marks an important step for us. While our newly rebuilt restaurant and pub aren’t quite ready to open just yet, they are well underway, and we’re pushing hard to have them welcoming guests as soon as possible. We can’t wait to share those spaces with you when the time comes.

In the meantime, everything that makes this place special is ready and waiting—fresh ocean air, incredible wildlife, peaceful boardwalk strolls, and the kind of west coast experience that keeps people coming back year after year.

We want to take a moment to say thank you. The support, encouragement, and patience we’ve received over the past year have meant more than words can express. You’ve stood by us through challenges, and because of that, we’re stepping into this new season stronger and more motivated than ever.

Whether you’re joining us for the first time or returning as part of the family, we’re looking forward to sharing another season of adventure, connection, and lasting memories with you.

Here’s to a fresh start, a busy summer ahead, and even more to come.

We’ll see you May 1!
