I'm seriously thinking about taking a couple of days off and running over from Vancouver. What marina where I can stay on my boat is closest to the action?

As mentioned by Streamhopper, Jeff, myself and another fellow will like to attend this.

What about the shack at Esquimalt anglers for a meet and greet? Not sure if it's big enough. If not, I may have an option in the same neighbourhood. Let me check into it and see if ti's available. If it is, I'll shoot you an e-mail, MyEscape.

Thats where my boat will be. see you all there.

Wolf

I would love to attend,Anybody got room for 2???Serena and i will split cost for gas.

That looks like a great place. I'll probably show up Friday afternoon.
Wolf what would you reccommend as good gear for Halibut? Rods, reels and tackle? I want good reliable stuff and will pay for quality. I always find that guides buy the stuff that works not the stuff that impresses.

Im sure Wolf will be more than happy to offer his expert advise.

After all he is the Authority Guide figure of this board.

Uncle Roy, Is there room for my Tailspin Charter Rig for the Derby
weekend at Westbay???
Round trip from Becher Bay to the special spot, then to weigh in the Barn Door, LOL and Back to Becher will be close to 30 miles plus the infamous afternoon Spring Westerly.

Then i have to get Vinnie and Big Ragu and Mark P back to town for Post Derby festivities.
Maybe we can sleep in the Honeymoon Suite !!! LOL

CRAP!!

I'll be poonin' in Hardy that weekend. Lets change the dates so I could come over and show ya how it's done (haha) Or........Let me enter the fish I get from there. Howbout it?
Before you say no, remember, I'm from the Fraser Valley and have no idea what a Hali even looks like........Should be an easy entrance fee for the cause!

Seriously, you guy's should have a great time IF the weather lets ya out.

A Toast: Here's to the smell of burnt flesh (thumbs) trying to slow down a SCREAMIN' spool of dacron!

Good luck!

Some like it rough...
Others just puke!.

Mr. Dean

For your gear go down and see paul at trotac he'll set you up. I personally use 3 diawa halibut rods there about 8 years old now there great very tough what I like is the handle on the front is triagle shaped so its easier to grip. And im not sure they still sell them (west coast halibut samurai model number PS701HC 7 ft)? The reels I use are 2 penns 340 s very good and the price keeps coming down the other reel is the new graph-lite gld 30II but that one is a 2 speed but its expensive but man is it ever smooth for a bigger reel and believe it or not not clumbersome the balanceing is great

Good luck Wolf

Maddog better call as i know when i got my moorage they were limited to spots but if needed be we can anchor it in the bay on a sailboat bouy.

Wolf

The 340's look great. How many feet of what line should I put on? What basic tackle should I buy? I know nothing about Halibut fishing.

Still looking to join you all in this adventure as earlier posted but I still do need a ride.

Will pay my share of expences, of course.

It looks like I may be a little behind the <img src=icon_smile_8ball.gif border=0 align=middle>on this one though.

Seafood, it eat, then catch more.
