Will be venturing to Sooke April 8th, is it worth the money to get a charter at this time? Is it worthy to try salmon fishing or hali?
Looking for positive feedback.

the hali fishing can be really good, salmon are still around but u might have to work for em, and as far as a guide goes i would say yes, there a couple goods guides on this site that work out of the sooke/victoria area

Only 1 day? That's not long enough to look around and fish too![}:)]
Yes, I would recommend a local guide, it's a big ocean out there.
If you are going to try for salmon a 4 hr. charter might do, but not for hali.
Remember to enjoy being on the water, 'catching' is a bonus.;)
I enjoy everytime I get to go, it's lots more than most get and an adventure too!

i personaly don't think its worth the money to pay for a charter. if you already know how to fish hali and salmon then get your self a map and do the proper leg work. you fish for them pritty much the same everywere. ask around and you will save hundreds. there are people on here from sooke that can probable help you. if you don't now how to fsh them then it might be worht the money to get a charter[8D] well hope you have good fishing-----redfox-----

Yes, there are some fantastic guys who will give you more then a fighting chance to get into some great halibut action.

Finding a honey hole flying solo on SVI...very risky.

Good Luck!

Well ended up catching two 6 pounders, 1 10 pounder and a 18 pounder... will be back.
