Was going to post this question in the what's for dinner thread, but this stuff is more of an anytime meal to me. And today I had it for the first time as a snack on the boat. I absolutely love this crap and there is no other food item that has such an emotional memory associated with it. My question is, has anyone else ever had it? I grew up thinking this was an Italian thing. Apparently it's not??? This was a staple at every family picnic. Every big family bbq at Maple Grove Pool, or New Brighton. You're talking 100-strong Italians with enough food for 1000. There would always be at least one of those giant yellow tupperware bowls with it in a cooler. There would be so much that we'd end up bringing home Ziplok bags full. Then you'd hit the fridge and take a few pulls right before bed and it was even better. But even better yet was finding that there was still some left in the fridge the next morning. Big ol' bowl full with a cold Kraft Regular BBQ sauce charcoal briquet flavored football shaped burger patty (bun and toppings optional at this point). My lovely wife took it upon her Chinese self to embrace it and now makes it for my own family regularly. I have no idea what it's called, but it's basically macaroni noodles, mayo, tuna, black olives, celery and parsley. Every aunt had their own twist with a bit of vinegar or half sour cream or some madness like yogurt (gross). But they all slapped. So please, can anyone tell me that they've had this before? And if you haven't, make some tonight, and enjoy it on your boat tomorrow!
