SFBC Braggarts Fishing Derby

The Southern Vancouver Island Anglers Coalition will have a booth at this weekends Victoria Boat Show. A great opportunity to talk to board and see why every angler should be a member. I will be there on Saturday for the early shift. Memberships will be available as well as the Banana Derby tickets all weekend. Also heard last night that Dr Morton is planning on attending and is a guest speaker at the society's AGM on Feb 28th. I guess this has been posted before but I must have missed that and thought others might have too.

Just a suggestion but maybe if a date has been set (or when it does) the tread header could include the actual date. Dont know if this could be done but just my 5 cents (rounded up).

The owners of the site are considering doing something similar to what you are suggesting.

Not sure if I mentioned that we will have a big cooler at Pedder Bay to hold donated fish for the Sooke Food Bank. Anyone who donates some of their catch will go into a draw for a nice prize. Another good way to give to the local community.

Reminder for up island participants: I will be in Campbell River from Sat noon to Sun afternoon. I will ask the River Sportsman staff to sell Derby tickets this weekend. So there will be Derby tickets and also Pub Night Tickets available then and there. Questions or concerns, please send me a PM. Hope lots will join the fun! Cheers!

Salmonboy has been approaching his contacts for donations and has collected $250 so far....good job and appreciated. I get the fun and easy job, go shopping and spend that money on some nice prizes. Thanks Jes. Others are also contributing some nice prizes, all the hard work is very much appreciated.

Hey Pro, could we have a recap on page 1 showing amended dates, time, and other particulars ? copy of the poster ?
right now you need to search through a lot of pages for it.

I like donating fish to the food bank but why is it always the Sooke food bank?

Coho derby and boxing day derby make sense because they are in sooke, sooke does a halibut derby where you can donate too. Just wondering if another food bank was considered for this one the residents of sooke sure get a lot of nice fish from three or more other derby's. Share the love!

The food banks should collect from us fishermen more often especially with it being a pink year (and rumored sockeye opening) I think a lot of people will have extra fish they will release that could instead be kept and donated. Set up easy drop offs at the dock and we will be able to provide a lot of protien to residents from sidney through sooke who need the help.

I was told that the Sooke Food bank needs help right now. If someone wants to organize another cooler for another marina (Esq Anglers) and collect the fish and get it to another group I would gladly say go for it. I can't be in 2 places at once. Elden Smith has agreed to collect the Pedder Bay donated fish at the end of each day for the Sooke Food bank. He is personally involved with that group.
Craven, the site is going to post something up that will be a locked (viewing only) page dedicated exactly to that purpose. Shouldn't be long for it to be up. I will also see if I can copy and paste a copy of the poster from my email tonight.

In keeping with the theme of this derby (fun) we now have a hidden weight prize for the closest "butt" weighed in during the 2 days. Shepnoir has been asking his construction suppliers to help out and just got word back from one of them that they are donating a new "crapper" complete with install. Seems like an appropriate prize for a "butt" angler. I wouldn't mind winning this as our upstairs toilet sweats condensation all over the floor in the winter months.

LOVE IT! Very appropriate for both species and the derby. Gonna get me tickets today at the SVIAC booth at the boat show.

So, I am in Campbell River right now and have derby tickets and pub-night tickets with me. Unfortunately, Rivers Sportsman did not agree selling the tickets for us. So if you are in the area and would like tickets, please PM me your phone number and we can meet somewhere here to make the purchase happen. I will be in CR until Sun early afternoon. Will also be at the Fish&Game Dinner tonight at the thunderbird hall. Will take some tickets with me to the dinner. Look for a tall guy (6'5") with a lime green shirt. Cheers!

May 11th, 12th?

Yikes I think I'll just be giving the wife a great mothers day. I could go in it too but then one day when I want to go fishing and she has other plans for me the fact i fished on mothers day will certainly be used against me.

Buy her dinner after fishing on Saturday, bring her to the party and then dance the rest of the night away. Tell her your willing to suffer the next morning just for her!! How could she complain? lol

I was at a dance 2 weekends ago with 3 ladies and had a blast. Between drinking, dancing and saving the ladies from the wolves...it was a fun night.
