Salmon leader storage

I've always preferred not to have kinks from wrapping the leader. But I'm not sure the salmon care all that much. Wrapping your newly tied leaders around 4 fingers, looping the swivel through the hoop of the leader line, then stashing them in ziplocs as @Steplift suggests, is a great way to keep the "kinks" out of the line. Don't put them back into the ziploc after use though, as they will rust up no matter how much you think you've cleaned them. Once you've used the leader, keep it out to air-dry or just chop, cut, and rebuild it.

how long do you think pretied leaders are good for if they have not been soaked or in the sun? I have some old ones of patterns I guess I dont really use much...LOTS OF THEM$$$$

Without sun or water, they should be good for a long time (years). But why keep them if you don't use them anymore...? Hahah

I do loops so the line won’t kink or knot. The twist wire from Canadian Tire is good for holding it together.

Great idea and purchased these bags with sip lock .https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B07C4Q87YK?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1

I do nearly the same thing except I use the 6”x9” 4 mil variation. The bigger bags tend to reduce or eliminate the mono memory.

- 100# mono for plugs and big spoons
- 60# mono for small spoons
- 60# mono (at hooks) to 40# to 20# (at the swivel) for tandem octopus hook rigs [all joined with uniknots]

Once they’re in use they live on my dash and are fished until broken off. They stay away from the new gear tackle boxes.

So it’s the nite before fishing and all through the house.. this hangs on anything and more if you have a bungy cord. They get natural sun lite, easy wash after the sleigh bells ring.. bonk.
The ones up on the tree are trying hard to get wet
I think there’s a dozen flasher set ups in that little soap holder

This is better than Xmas.
