I found the same poor mans rocket launchers on ebay about 5-6 years a go and put them on my prior boat, and they were basically fine, even off shore. My reservation was, if I recall, the tubes were mounted on the aluminium with a screw and a rivet (?), and I ended up replacing both with better screws. The tubes had the "cut outs" so the reels would seat into them and not rotate. I trusted them enought to take 3 islanders off shore and had absolutely no problem, but I did that after the screw upgrade. Perhaps if this unit was loaded up with heavy halibut rod/reel combos, there might be more concern, but for salmon rods, no problem. I would not think of putting a net in one of the tubes though.
