Replacing Cuddy Cushions

Can anyone speak on their experience with replacing the foam in their cuddy/sleeping quarters cushions? Both myself and my cushions are getting old and would like a little more comfort. I'll spend roughly 7 nights a year sleeping in the cuddy but I always sleep like sh*t. I'm thinking to either just get a memory foam mattress topper from Costco and cut it up to fit, or go to the Foam Shop and get foam from them. Search past threads and couldn't find much on it.

I would get custom made at a shop. We deserve to be comfortable

You deserve custom foam.
Proper boat upholstery shops have the two density foams
Will last decades, your back ain't getting younger.

I hear you, I use a 2” or 2.5” thermarest air mattress. I have a decent quality one for camping, light weight and doesn’t take up much room when deflated.
The kids don’t seem to mind sleeping simply on the cushions, a little tougher then I lol.

If the cushions are in good shape and fine for sitting on but not sleeping on, for 7 nights a year I suggest the memory foam topper. I did this last year for our small travel trailer. Bought a queen size closed cell foam topper at Canadian Tire for under $100, cut it to size, and used it on top of the 18 year old cushions and it felt like a luxury hotel bed. Rolls up when not in use.

It really comes down to how much you want to spend and how nice you want it to look. The cheaper option is to just get someone to go over it which will certainly work.. it's significantly more expensive to get something custom made. I just did a relatively small filler cushion for my cuddy and it was $400.

It's a 5 piece set. The largest 3 of which I can unzip, remove the old foam and replace myself, then I have 2 pieces making up 24"x36" which are over plywood and would be able to replace myself. I'll reach out to my upholstery guy and call a couple foam shops as well. I figure I'll be into a foam mattress topper for at least $200 so it's worth asking a foam shop.

Having a good night sleep on your own boat is the greatest pleasure in life.
The variety of and quality of foam is so much better than a few decades ago.
