Read in the paper of Rex and company finally getting ownership of the marina property from the timber company. Maybe we'll see some improvements to the facilities now that they can be assured that they will be there for awhile. Hope so.

I read in the paper last week in the Times Colonist that there is a plan to spend $5.5 million on upgrading the logging road from Lake Cowichan to Port Renfrew. When this happens and the marina gets improved the fishery at Port Renfrew will be under a lot more pressure in years to come. So much for the good ol' days when less guys would/could venture out that way.

Personally, I liked it the way it was. I figure that it will ruin the fishing with all that more pressure, next thing they'll do is dredge the river and when that happens the area will be full of yanks with thier boats fishing 10 rods at a time.
Of course nothing beats the "good old days" but Renfrew has always been for "smart Americans" or "hardcore" locals. I don't think a few changes around there will do anything to change that...just make our lives more comfortable.
How about forking over 50 G notes for a compact R.V lot at the port campground/marina ? With water and hydro. No More pork and beens!!! It's in the making and the American folk are quite keen on snatching it up. 50 g is deeper than my pocket! Here they come! The smolters are gonna go wild.
