Nice job... :D

Today was tough fishing today in Renfrew, Dragged lines about for 6 hrs, Logan, Camper, Rock Pile, Nothing. One small shaker released. It was super foggy and some nice rollers. But calm and no wind. Everyone I could see and talk to nothing as well. :(

nice day out there today, but fishing was slowww - did logan all mornign and landed a feeder and lost a nice fish, and released 5 or 6 shakers. |We had the most action of all the boats out there form what we could tell.

This guy kept flying over us for about 1-2 hours, you'd think he would get the hint.. we wern't going anywhere!!

Fished Renfrew late Thursday evening until mid morning Saturday.
.........Trev man ( No Bananas ) Good talking with yah! You too Ward. That ride up at Nitinat was one for the books. Some awsome breakers. By the time we got back to Logan a boat or two had four or so in the bucket. Immediately we put a couple in the mid Twenties onto the boat including a heartbreak 22-26lb wild Coho that was pumping blood. Tried very hard to give him the best chance possible. Took off strong so hope it survived. Glad we pulled the plug on Nitinat and swung back to Logan when I heard Ward say there was a bit of a snap. Next Morning Hit Logan again. WOW , can you say fog. Actually most of the trip we were on instruments. You guys with no offshore instruments are crazy. Saw many weekend guys panicking in circles out there[:0] Hit another high teens first thing then a dozen or so shakers. Out to the 550' mark and finished our morning with an insane amount of cohos and pinks. Took a hefty 20lb hatch coho to round up the day and we were back to Victoria.

Great time again, although like every one has said, it was work. Especially for big springs.

Good luck out there guys,

HL

Thanks for posting that picture Highlights. That is one of the nicest coho's i've ever seen, hopefully he gets up the river.Beauty.Dan

Sure is a beauty... Here's a question.. might sound dumb so sorry.... J Bouy? Where is it? Headed up tomorrow for a couple days and would like to get out for some hali... Now that I own a "BIG BOYS BOAT," I'm gonna make the trip to the bank... Thanks in advance.

That plane is the Fisheries plane. It buzzed me a couple of times at Porlier Pass last year. It also caught a couple people fishing in the closed area at Swiftsure Bank last year. The DFO officers were at the Renfrew Marina writing tickets armed with photos of the boats.

Just got home from a summer in Renfrew. Had a fantastic time. Overall fishing was good, had HOT days where I was able to limit in little time (hour) while I had other days when not a hit. "Hot" fishing I guess is all relative. Learned a lot by talking to others and listening to the radio and just putting in the time. Hopefully next summer I can get out to the bank a few more times, love it out there! Being able to go out to PR each summer makes my job much more bearable, can't wait til July already! I will miss it. Largest spring, 38lbs., Coho, 12lbs. Question for everyone, does the colour flasher and teaser head really</u> make a huge difference? Have a great fall and winter. Thanks Steve!:)

It sure does, some days when I'm playing while grinding it out, the right head just comes on. And for some reason, one of the same head will totally out produce the other (EG, two purple hazes, on out-fishes the other noticably). But Green or Clear is a good fall-back.

Spent Friday and Saturday at Port Renfrew. Fished Camper and Logan on Friday. Landed a 26 pound spring at Logan on Friday plus an assortment of smaller fish. On Saturday at Logan we hooked and released a 17 pound wild coho. No springs. Very foggy day but very calm seas. Went to the 450 foot depth straight out from the Whistle Bouy chasing Coho. Found them quickly at depths ranging from 20 feet to 70 feet with most at the latter depth. Hooked at least 30 in 2.5 hours. Kept 2 hatchery teenagers. Fished with hootchies only. Put the flyrod on the down rigger with a mini flasher and a green hootchie and had great success. Nice diversion when the spring fishing was a bit sparse. Wonder where all of these coho are headed?
