Could it be too many boats chasing too few fish? Maybe it just three kinds of fisherman one that shares all, one that shares nothing and one somewhere in between. I have fished with a guy that thought that two boats were a crowd. He felt very uncomfortable with just a few boats around. (Mental note: don’t take him to the chum derby) A few years back we had a guide and several other boats take a run up to Butte Inlet from Brown’s Bay. The guide showed us a few spots, which we each took, and we all kept in radio contact. The plan was to find the fish and all would meet there. Didn’t catch any springs but sure hit and released a lot of lings. We rafted up at lunchtime and swapped lies, food, and beverages. Meet some new friends that I have since gone fishing with. It was a great trip. It’s good to know you have buddy boats and the chance of hooking some fish. Not to mention the safety and navigation questions resolved. I can total understand not giving out GPS spots but come on, some of us like to look at our charts and do a little homework. I don’t think if you gave a general location that it would do any harm. After all, have you never gone to the “library” and sat there reading a chart and dreamed of fishing somewhere new? GLG
