I suspect many like me in Vancouver can't make it over, but, I'd be happy to add my name to a list of pissed of fisherman if it helps....Can we circulate something and courier over to those attending in person?? There has to be 20-50 of us who could sign it and pass it along....

I live in comox?

Dont worry ill be there on monday at our local, and pretty good chance ill be in Port on the 26th!

Lorne

I may be driving down there for Weds night Lorne if you want to jump in.

What time is your local Courtenay / Comox one on Monday? Is it posted on the forum? I didn't see the Port one posted either.

Courtenay/Comox is 9:30am Monday Morning the 19th. I know.,.,...

And yes i might take you up on that offer. Thats a bit of a haul though for me. Getting home at 2am on a work night doesnt excite me.

It's called getting involved I'm told. How many of your nemesis's are going to be there?

i can count on one hand the amount of everyday joe rec fishers we get at our area 25 nootka meetings, they are held out in tahsis, at westview marina, way out of the way, the only person who doesnt have to drive atleast an hour is the chair, and owner of westview, go figure...hope i actually get an email notifying me when the meeting is this time, if anyone knows when it is please post it, i know gamechanger was there in october...the locals here dont care and dont get involved for some reason, problem is, the majority of ppl that fish nootka, live pretty far away....holmes*

Holmes: Ya funny thing about the Nootka SFAB - Since I resigned as Secretary a few years back, I don't get **** from them. Not once in all those years have they ever sent me a notice of a meeting! I only find out if I hear someone talking about the meeting "last night" at the local restaurant.

I have asked several times and several people to send me notices of meetings. NOTHING. Not once in the last 6 years.

I agree Jim i've put my name(email) numerous x on the list at the entrance to the meeting room(Sheraton) - not once have i been contacted.IMHO it's the same old dog & pony show..lots of blah blah blah with little or no change in DFO thinking.Well i know one thing before/after the meeting we all know DFO doesn't have the our interests in mind .The last meeting(before xmas 2011) you could count the number of local fishing guides on 1 hand (with a few fingers missing) - regardless the turnout was poor.
I realise we all benifit from a healthy fishery, how much benifit or pleasure you derive from the fish shouldn't necessarily be based on how much you spend to catch them. The DFO has proven to us that it doesn't share the recreational fishing sectors take re:reasonable public access to a public resource. We take a backseat to the FN , comercial fishing sectors access to a public reasource. The DFO under the Canadian Goverment's lack of guidance has proved there are many other monetary/political reasons why the Sportsfishing sector will also become extinct.
It all comes down to how much money & political power our lobbyists have!!
