Off the Cap this morning for a solo fish. Picked up a double header of small keeper springs half an hour ago after getting hit hard a couple times. Have moved to the Pink Apts to see if there is a big hatchery coho kicking around.

Ahhh.....the Cap fishery.....brings em' all out.....that's why so many boats are trolling with their bumpers out. :D
 
i was out there yesterday and picked a nice coho for the barbie and largish chum for the smoker - chum was putting up a surprisingly good fight so decided to hang a left turn and get out of the pack - props to the guy in the smaller whaler who saw what was going on and made space for me to exit without being asked - situational awareness is a good thing!

Priceless ... had a good laugh at that this a.m. Hard to believe how close people will get to you when there are as few boats out there as there were this a.m. ... as they say, it is a big ocean out there.
 
Good size to the two I got yesterday... For cap coho anyways. Won't be able to get out for a couple weeks so I'll say done for the year. Start up winter feeder fishing in December. Good luck to everyone else out there, plenty of fish still around at the cap.

Got this one at cap bout an hour ago... 8' leader anchovy on the bottom.

Also lost one screamer, bent the hook!

Still fish biting here now

Since we have fished out the abundance of so many species on this coast that we're turning to Albee Tuna as a sport fishery...that guy isn't too far off...especially when looking for bait and birds.

While the tower is out of place for our area, the hull, ride and seaworthiness of it is better than 95% of what the people own and fish out of on this forum. I've been on 25' and 27' hulls of that vintage and they deserve full marks. One had old doomed 275 2 strokes on it and I' ll say it would blow by modern $435,000 Aluminum boat show builds no problem.
 
Bit of a bust for us today at the Cap... Fished 7 am - 2 pm, shallow, deep, close to shore and further out. Saw lots of fish caught all around us, both at the early bite for the first couple hours and then from noon onwards. Quite a few jumpers too. Only managed what I thought was a small jack coho (~2 lb) , but turned out to be a jill! Had to double check that jills were a thing... Caught on a herring behind Twisted Sister flasher at 60' down just east of Navy Jack Point.

The chinook you saw getting caught were within 20 feet of the bottom and most were right on the bottom. The Yo-yos were mostly in the top 60... I know 5 boats who were there.

Any recommendations for good spots for crab? I had two traps taken (stolen from me?) around North Arm so I'm looking for a new, safer spot that could produce a good catch. I haven't heard much about crab areas in Howe Sound. Usually I launch at McDonald Beach so ideally I'd like someplace relatively close.
 
Definitely a more active morning at the Cap. Managed to burn thru the pack of anchovies and had to throw out a spoon and a hootchie. Fished right on bottom. Unfortunately, fed a seal a beauty, snappped the leader on another that I was forcing to the boat in fear of the seals. Had two other good fish on that didn't stick but managed to box one 20lb and one 11lb hatchery. Really, really wish tomorrow wasn't a work day.
