New Hali Reel?????

I used some Shimano Tyrnos 30's last year loaded up with 80 lb braid and they worked fine. We managed an 80 lber, 2-50's and a couple around 20's. These reels never skipped a beat......

Thanks for the heads up, didnt know this.
The Shimano seems fine but these Avets seem like a nice reel, the 5.3 seem like the right price but probably arent big enough for Hali, which of the Avets would be the best bang for the buck?
Dave's a Shimano rep is he not? and he fishes out of Vancouver and runs to Thrasher when he can... Pretty sure he doesnt spend any time fishing Halibut.. Id be more inclined to listen to guys who fish Halibut and have a little more experience with that style of reel..

With that said... ive heard they are decent for the price... he just may have a bias opinion being a rep..

not a high end reel by any means

, BUT , had a geat deal passed on to me in WA on a set of these ,
Okuma Convector 45 L , there only around $100 - $120 i believe , Ive beat the crap outta them , they still work great ,
ive had some experienced friends and guides try them out , they loved them , EXTREMELY smooooth , highly recommend lookin at em

cant beat th price

I'm still using the 330 GTIs. Tried tested and true. Not the best out there but very popular nonetheless; with so many out there it's a breeze to find parts. I'm definitely a fan of owning all of the same reel for each application so I can learn the device inside out and perform my own repairs.

That said, if anyone's looking for a service place the guy running Success Tackle up in Shawnigan does great work at awesome prices!
